I cannot speak for all transgender people, but can certainly let you know how I feel on the subject. I would much rather have someone who is unsure ask me my preferred pronouns versus just making the incorrect assumption. Of course you should show some tact when asking. Really though if you just go based on what you see, you really shouldn't have a problem most of the time.

When I've been out in public, this really hasn't been an issue for me. In fact, I've had it happen in reverse. I am often called ma'am or miss when I'm out in my "boy mode". Although my "boy mode" is rather androgynous, being just jeans and a t-shirt. That doesn't bother me at all. It actually makes me feel quite good.

I must not be passing very well as a boy since I get called ma'am and miss when out in my "boy mode". So that leads me to believe I do look like a girl. I have been told by several people that I have feminine features. I'm not tall at just under 5'7", and have always had a slender build. The only issues I've had are from biased people such as my family. One of my brothers tried to tell me I have masculine features. Everyone else says the complete opposite.

I'll let you judge for yourself by posting a picture of one of my Halloween costumes.
