What's new

NBA 2K14 player rankings released... Does not look good folks.

I know we all want Wuggins n shizz but holy Cheezus how I would love to make the playoffs, to rub it in all of these idiots' faces.

Glad I don't play video games ... you ****ing children....

Chill out man! I still enjoy playing videogames with my friends once in a while (and we are in our 30s). It's just fun.

NBA 2K ratings are a mess but it's a bit fun following them. Several NBA players do really care about them. Remember, there is the business part of it (millions of copies are sold every year with the player's names -or brand- on the game). Others just feel overlooked...and their reactions show it. Also don't forget they are in their 20s and some are into videogames.

In addition, for some people these ratings show how teams or players are perceived by others or how little they see a particular team. In our case we have always been screwed hehe. As Tarkanian says, being underdogs is our thing.

Assuming Trey puts up a good showing, our starting five is at least adequate. Then you have ............ um...........

Heh, wellll, who has a good bench anyway, right? There's Jeremy, he's biggerstrongerfaster, right?

Seriously, though, the Jazz are more athletic than they have been in years, and if they play their cards right, they will be amazing. The bench is a little iffy, but many of them are as young as the starters, so they will get better, not worse, and many of them will grow with the team assuming they don't get snatched away by other teams.

To play.... a bench role? I don't think that's the right answer. He has proven that he is a 'starter' in the league, and I doubt he would be happy not starting for us. Now if he gets humbled somewhere else, that's fine, but I would rather find a backup with late first round picks than have to pay him what he got to come off the bench. Remember, he's getting somewhere around ten mil for multiple years where he went. It's starting to look like Gordon and Favors are going to average over ten per year and with Burks showing athletic improvement and Kanter being himself, they will average similar numbers when they come due. Add to that Burke's contract which will be a big chunk of cash and you have over fifty million dollars going to five players. Then because of the CBA, you have to pay eight more players to stay on the team, many of them being the young upcoming talent that we already have, many more being the first round picks that we aquired, you can't be paying Millsap over ten mil to be Favor's babysitter off the bench.

Have to bump as I played 2k14 for the first time last night. Of course, I played with the Jazz first. They were ranked 30th in offense, 30th in defense, and obviously 30th overall. Gordon Hayward was 69 overall and could keep no one in front of him.

Mo Williams was 78 overall
Iman Shumpert was 80 overall

Needless to say, my "friends", who most certainly have not seen Hayward play since the 2010 NCAA Title game, feel that these rankings are completely justifiable.

How is the gameplay? Any improvements?

I like it better. Most of my friends hate it. It seems more realistic to me. Less open drives for dunks as help defenders actually go and protect the rim somewhat. It's also way easier to steal it from poor ball-handlers (AKA No more watching Iguodala and Rudy Gay dribble around aimlessly for ten seconds until they can blow by for a dunk). The way to score is by using the right stick to do flashy kickout passes after drawing the aforementioned help defenders around the rim. This is new feature to the game. It seems more like an actual NBA game, which is very boring to all of my friends.
The alley-oop is still impossible to defend, however. You can know exactly what is coming, stand in the perfect spot, hit the jump button at the proper time, and then watch as your 7' defender does not jump to intercept or deflect the pass as a European point guard lays it in over him.

However, all credibility for the game was lost when Gordon Hayward repeatedly got the blow-by from Gerald Wallace. Gerald ****ing Wallace! Even with a very soft cushion, Gerald Wallace's incredible ball-handling ability was no match for Hayward's putrid perimeter defense.

Is it possible to alter the stats of players? Can you bump Hayward up to LeBron-esque skills?

Just an update. I sent NBA 2K a nasty message along with Hayward's Twitter response. Lol I am sure I was not the only one.
They updated his rating to a 75.
Still no Ian Clark though. Kanter will be a 75 after the first month though.

With last years game I forced portland to trade me lillard for big al and then made favors, hayward, burks, and kanter all rated in the 80's.
I think I had favors as my best player with a rating of 87

Here is my experience Hayward trying to pull a crossover and it is another turnover. Hope our players kill it just to make the jazz better on 2k14.

Just having some fun online.. beat this guy 79-77 in OT at Boston. I really miss those baby blue uni's by the way. Very cool that you can use them in 2K14. Trey Burke is a monster..
