What's new

Trey Burke tweets out he's only on the shelf 4 to 6 weeks

I thought 2 to 3 months was outrageous considering players play with broken fingers. Hopefully he gets out on the court sooner rather than later and learns on the fly

Do you think it'll be like in the Disney movies and he'll go from not being able to shoot to having a bionic shooting touch?

That would be cool. Something needed to snap him out of his shooting slump.

I at least hope burke can run through drills in practice, maybe just without the ball. I want what little of an offense we have to be second nature for him by the time he sees the court again

I want him to take as long as he wants to take...

Also, does anyone know if his right hand is his shooting? Im guessing it is.

Good news on the timetable. The best part is that drastic measures don't need to be taken. I'm not sure how ten day contracts work at the beginning of the season, but I know that non guaranteed guys can play for a bit before they are guaranteed which means that X point guard on the summer roster can fill in as the foul trouble backup without signing someone for a full year who might threaten the minutes of the future.

Meaning that Alec and Lucas can cover for Trey while Machado or someone like him can sit at the end of the bench just in case of foul trouble. Then mid November, if it is obvious that he doesn't have what it takes, we cut him loose.

No one has ever been out 3 months from a broken finger, and only a few have need 2 months. I think 7-8 weeks would be a good target date.

10-Day contracts can't be signed until January 5 (or the first Monday after Jan 5 if falls on a weekend). January 10 is the date that non-guaranteed contracts become guaranteed for the rest of the season, although the player actually has to be cut and clear waivers by January 10, otherwise the guarantee kicks in.

Based on Burke's facial expression the other night when Briggs was walking him off the court holding his finger, it's pretty obvious Burke has never really been injured in his life.

I think it's safe to say he has no clue how long he'll be out.

Derrick Rose tweeted out to him that he should take his time, take the whole year if he needs it to get healthy.
