It seems like the national media narrative is that Hayward is the face of the franchise and that is the Jazz plan. But is that the way Jazz fans really see it? I like Hayward and think most here do as well, but do most see him as the face of the franchise the same way the media seems to push it at times?

I don't see Hayward as the face of the franchise. He hasn't come anywhere close to earning that distinction at this point.

If I was going to give it to anyone right now it'd have to be Favors.

It would have to be the guy that signed a contract extension for the next 4 years after this one, right?

Favors' the only 1 who's bought a house in SL right? Doesn't that tell you something?

Just 'cause a player buys a house, it doesn't mean he's the face of the franchise. I'm not holding the no deal w/ Hayward against him --it's not like he asked for max, and we don't even know for certain that the deal he turned down was 4 yr 40.

In this moment in time, Hayward is our most accomplished player. I don't think that will always be the case, but I definitely don't see Favors replacing him in the future as the face of the franchise (unless we are perpetually lottery bound).

IMO. 1- favors. (Jazz would've like Hayward)
2- Lindsey
3- anyone else with a contract beyond July, and Ty.
4- Everyone else.

Jazz management are as much to blame as Hayward and his agent are for no deal. They chose to keep Paul and Al and scrape for the 8th seed two years too many (for salary cap reasons, or whatever), and then decided to thrust Hayward into #1 option the same year his rookie contract is expiring --of course he has confidence in himself, and of course he is going to want fair compensation for what you are asking him to do. Players don't sign on for tank jobs. Good players don't at least. I am glad that Hayward believes in himself (he should too). He had a great college career, has gotten better in the league every year despite being toyed with by two different coaches, and recently was the talk of the USA camp. Why should he sell himself short? For all he knows, he isn't done progressing. The uncertainty surrounding him has to more to do with those who managed him, than his on court effort.

Until someone else starts for a long period of time, and posts numbers better than Hayward's, he is the face of the franchise. Jazz want him, they just aren't willing to pay him for who he could be while they still hold the card.

Publicly I think it is centered on Hayward. In reality (on court) I think it is Favors.

I think hayward is the most well known player on our team across the nation.... so if that is how you define face of the franchise (most famous player) then I would say hayward right now

Yeah but how can you be a face of the franchise if you don't actually live here?

I voted for kanter but he seems less homer when favors said he likes the character of utah, it fits his character and he gives that as a reason to buy a home. So I guess the majority on favors are right.
