What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

It'll be interesting to see KU's bigs. Ellis came on strong end of last year and should be good, and Traylor was pretty raw last year. I bet they'll both be good. They're Kansas.

Are familiar with Embiid pkm?

Yes. Very. Raw, sure.. but reminds me of Hakeem. Srsly.

Who's playing on Tuesday (just the two games, that is) to watch.

KU
Wiggins
Joel Embiid
Selden
Perry Ellis
Jamari Traylor
Duke
Parker
Rodney Hood
Andre Dawkins
Rasheed Sulaimon
MichSt
Gary Harris
Adreian Payne
Keith Appling
Branden Dawson
UK
Randle
Andrew Harrison
Aaron Harrison
James Young
Willie Cauley-Stein
Dakari Johnson
Marcus Lee
Alex Poythress

Btw, that is only TWO games that will likely feature;

7 future lottery picks
15 1st rounders
6 2nd rounders

That'd be cool to see

Honest question - Who is in the SEC that is good at basketball?

LOL.. there used to be a poster called "Cyrone Torbin" who would have been more than happy to answer that question for you.

Sadly he's not here anymore.

That dunk doe

Do you think playing for Bill Self will benefit or hurt Wiggins' game? I don't follow a lot of college ball so I have no clue who Self is as a coach. All I know is he lost to Burke's Michigan in the tourney last season.

In terms of Wiggins' play, I don't see a whole lot of improvement in his game from that clip over the Summit Hoop game...

May be PKM can also chip in?

I was more impressed with imbiid then I was with wiggns. imbiid has some heart.

Yeah he doesn't rise in the rankings for no reason.
Also didn't like how Wiggins didn't head over when Embiid was on the floor after the dive on their joint fastbreak to help him up. These gestures go a long way if your best player's got his teammates back.

Generally speaking Bill Self is thought of as a good coach.. like in terms of winning a lot of games, but he chokes in big games.
This is a fact, though.. the NBA (scouts specifically) has this little joke about Kansas being the place kids go to have their stock drop.
Not sure why it is.. but its true. And the kids don't seem to progress, even after multiple years.

I'm a little confused by all the Wiggins comments. He looked good to me. What did you expect in
someone's first game? For him to be Lebron? Maybe the hype has swallowed up common sense?

He made plays, played defense, attacked the basket, drew fouls made the good pass. He had errors, and looked skinny but I really don't see anything that takes away his #1 status.

The Kansas team reminds me a little of that Wall UK team..Physically imposing group who can just destroy people with there size and athletic aiblity but not great shooters and in todays college which relies so much on the 3 point shot i can see them having one of those 2-20 from 3 days and lose to an inferior team in the tournament..

Frankenkamps progress is vital to them..if he can stretch the do theyll be scary..

I think the myth that college coaches ruin players nba prospects is bs the college and pro games are vastly different games how a player does in the nba has little to do with his college coach..its how his skillset/size translate to the pro game..

Plus aside from a Henry and Selby who werent good nba prospects to begin with Self doesnt get all the top 10 guys like Calipari he gets alot of guys ranked from the 20's to 40's who arent huge nba prospects..

What guys did he ruin? Should Aldrich have turned into Hakeem under another coach? lol..

Now that hes getting more top players hell send more players to the nba who will be good pros because their skillset translates to the pros..

Reactions: BTP
Well I am sure the hype has something to do with my reaction to this performance. I was not overly impressed and the whole he has Lebron athleticism seems to be a reach based upon these highlight (jumping high is only one part of being athletic). Now don't shoot me but he reminded me of Quincy Lewis on defense with hops. He has a stand up defensive position and relies on his jumping ability to make up for what I perceived to be a lack of lateral movement. Guys in the NBA are going to blow by him if he doesn't improve his defensive positioning. His break away speed didn't seem anything special. He looked really skinny to me. I am sure the kid was nervous but I don't see a player who is just going to come into the league and dominate the way Lebron did.

I am not saying he isn't the number one guy. I just think he isn't an already made Superstar. Hopefully, he has the drive to become one. I just don't think Wiggins has locked up the number 1 spot yet (based upon what I've seen. Yes I know it is one game).

He isn't as good as LeBron was at this stage, but his ceiling is as good as advertised.
