Tough pill to swallow

I was very close to this whole situation (did nothing wrong though..) but will not share here those details......................

I was close with Jeremy Johnson and 'there' at a couple of meetings.

Some call this a witch hunt to oust Swallow. Others, call it a quest for the truth.

What was our AG doing? And should he have been impeached/asked to resign?

Yes. He's more guilty than JJ.

Was he knowingly doing these things or was he more ignorant? I believe he admitted on KSL a while back that he had made mistakes and had become entangled with people whom he regretted ever meeting.

Also, I think he still claims that he's innocent. And claims that he's just tired of the fighting. What is Swallow like? Is he really the douche that many claim he is? What about his predecessor, Shurtleff?

I don't know Shurtleff.. no opinion.

JS was NOT clueless... lmao.

I'll leave it at that as this is a public forum.

If the allegations prove to be true, I have no sympathy for public officials who conduct business without a modicum of common sense or participate in shady deals.

Can somebody try and explain this to a 21 year old that simply does not know enough about politics to fully understand this situation. I have been reading about this closely for a while and I still cant fully grasp what is happening.

a perceived bad guy allegedly bribes a public official with the gravitas to mitigate the problems said bad guy may experience... even though said public official is aware of the 'favor.'

Thriller, do you Swallow?

Please advise.

It keeps getting worse and worse...

A meeting with indicted businessman Jeremy Johnson at a Krispy Kreme shop in Orem so rattled then-attorney general candidate John Swallow last year that he went on a monthlong spree of destroying data and creating documents to cover any appearance of wrongdoing, a Utah House committee lawyer said Thursday.

Steve Reich, lead attorney for the special investigative committee, spun a damning four-hour narrative of Swallow's actions after the April 30, 2012, meeting with Johnson, who secretly recorded the conversation.

Swallow feared that if his involvement with Johnson became public, it could cost him the election and make him the target of a criminal investigation. He also wondered what he would do if he couldn't be a lawyer.

State investigators working with county attorneys obtained a search warrant for cellphone records about calls and texts by former Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff and others as part of a sweeping investigation that includes potential bribery.

The warrant, signed last month by 3rd District Judge Vernice Trease, demands records from two phones used by Shurtleff since 2007, as well as those used by his friend and confidant, Tim Lawson, who has already been charged with six felony counts as a result of the probe.

Shurtleff and Swallow, two gems.
