It's only been four games since Burke's delayed debut, but the Jazz are clearly giving Burke a chance to run the show, and you can't blame them. He's struggled with his shot (33.3 percent, 23.1 on 3s), but in his first home start, Burke made several key plays to help Utah beat Chicago for just its second win of the season. In 34 minutes, Burke scored 14 points and had six rebounds and four assists. He did it on 5-for-17 shooting, but hit two 3s and generally looked like he belonged on the court. It's a start, and I only expect Burke will climb and make a push into the top five with such big minutes. -- Nov. 27

That may be true, but you have to do the best that you can with the hand dealt to you. At this point, Burke looks like he'll be fine as a starting PG at the NBA level, and Gobert looks like he might be the steal of the draft. They might not compare to the top picks in 2014, but they both look like very good picks for 2013.
 
I think it's great that Burke may push into the top 5, since he's at #5 now. Maybe next he'll push into the top 10. Similarly, Mason Plumlee just missed the cut of being listed by being listed at #10.

He was the best off the dribble shooter in college last year, and that was evident in that OT 3 pointer vs Bulls. That shot's gonna come in prritty prritty handy, tbh.
 
To be perfectly honest, I think that the Jazz would have done well with any of MCW, Burke or Schroeder. I've been impressed by all 3 at some point this year. Won't be surprised if we look back at this draft and realize that the point guards weren't nearly as weak as they seemed leading up to the draft.

You really believe that his playing time ought to be dictated by his free throw percentage? I think it's coaching malpractice for Corbin to have him on the floor for less than 20 minutes a night, regardless of free throws.

I'm pretty sure that he meant that FT% is something that Gobert can actually control by working on it on his own and with "coaching" (Alex Jensen maybe?) while his playing time is out of his control and squarely in the hands of Ty Corbin. He can do everything in his power to prove that he deserves at least 20 mpg, but ultimately he can't FORCE the head coach to play him over veteran players.

Fair enough, but I honestly wouldn't mind it one bit if he didn't work on free throws at all and instead concentrated on developing his freaking incredible physical gifts.

I teach 9th grade Geography and World Civilizations. Spending all day in the company of teenagers and reading their essays on a regular basis, I simply can't bring myself to talk, write, text or post like they do. I feel less intelligent every time I have to read the work some of them produce.
 
Each section of the class is broken up into Units. This one happened to be about the different types of governments found in the world. Pretty boring stuff for 9th graders.
