Game Thread: Suns @ Jazz 7PM MT Friday

Hayward looked defeated all night. Smacking his hands together, cursing, hanging his head, just looking like he didn't know what the heck was going on all night out there. It was hard to watch him.

So, why doesn't Hayward get better? Why doesn't he get the offense set up to run plays? Why doesn't he get on players to play better defense?

I'm glad Hayward is pissed. Now do something about it.

If there's anybody still defending Corbin, this game tonight settled it once and for all.

Two young, inexperienced teams chosen to finish in the bottom five... yet the Suns (chosen to finish dead last) are overachieving and may contend for a playoff spot. Even if they don't, Hornacek is bringing out a lot from this rag-tag group and they could have as many as four first round picks in next year's unprecedented draft. The Suns are without a doubt on the upswing.

The Jazz, projected by many to finish 5th to last, are in fact DEAD last. This team is sloppy, appears to have no direction, doesn't click well as a team, players repeatedly make the same mistakes, the young talent is not being developed the way it should be, mediocre vets still getting playing time for some reason, I could go on and on and on. It was painfully obvious tonight, as blatant as could be. Jeff Hornacek was clowning Ty Corbin all night long.

If you watched this game and still have any excuses for Ty, nothing in this world can fix what's wrong with you.

That being said, I know tanking for a star is what's best for this team long-term, so what the hell... keep Corbin around for the rest of the season because any other team is hard pressed to out-tank us as long as we've got Corbin running the show. It's just painful to see what a great up and coming coach we could have had in Hornacek, instead we're stuck (for now) with bone head Corbin.

I am all for Corbin as coach for the rest of this year.

But, I can see past a game or 82, and look at the next 5-15 years as well. I'd rather suck BIG time this year, get Jabari Parker, then compete for titles, then compete for the 7-9 spot in the West every year with a crappy team.

Did you watch ksl? They did a special on Hornacek. Supposedly he gets angry and throws stuff like clipboards when players don't play hard or execute like they're supposed to. He channels his inner "Jerry."

How dare he. Doesn't he know that he should "love his team?" And if they lose it's, "just one game?" I personally hate tough minded demanding coaches. Phx is going nowhere fast....

What are you going to complain about next year, when we have a new coach and Jabari/Wiggins, and we are competing for the 6th seed in the West and Horny is still competing for a playoff spot?

If you think it will happen that fast you are going to be very disappointed the next 2-3 years.

Personally, I think the Morgan Jewlers Diamond play of the game should be Burks shot.

And why the hell does ESA play "Stand By Me" after every loss (game)?

Do they not realize that by playing that song it only makes the franchise look even more desperate and clueless? You don't fight anger and pity with even more pity. That just ticks off fans and makes you look dumb.

That Jazz franchise really looks bad. If I were a player I'd be angry over the "Stand By Me" song by itself. Forget the crappy play, coaching staff, or losses. Just playing "Stand By Me" in desperate attempts to "brainwash" the fans would tick me off. We're not 3 years old (even though the franchise obviously thinks we are).

Playing "Stand By Me" won't make fans forget Corbin's lack of coaching ability, Burks lack of shooting, Kanter's lack of everything, etc.

I thought it was kind of sweet and pathetic but sweet.

It all depends on who the Jazz get as FA's. Also, it depends on the new coach, and what the Jazz do with Hayward/Kanter/backup PG. I think they keep Hayward, trade Kanter, and sign a good backup PG. I could see them bringing in Thibbs and Hinrich to change the culture of this team. Also, a S&T trade for Deng with Kanter. That gives you this team NEXT year:

Thibbs, Phil Johnson, Brad Jones, Alex Jensen - this would be the best coaching staff in the NBA. Sloan as a consultant.

Burke, Hinrich
Hayward, Young
Deng, Marvin
Parker, Humphries/Blair/Scola
Favors, Varajeo/Koufous/Anthony/Gray/Okafur

I don't think Hayward is strong enough to be a leader. BUT, I do think he is personally strong, and if a new coach came in, he would re-dedicated himself and come back next year and be better than his contract.

Why would Thibbs go from an elite franchise like the Bulls to the Jazz?
That seems like a big step down.

Because the Bulls don't respect him, the players don't like his defense first style. The Jazz are a team young enough to listen to him, the organization will stand behind him, and they will have Jabari Parker.

And how do the Jazz get Stevens also?
Head coach for the most coveted job in the NBA.
And why would Jazz players like his defense first style any better?

Argh. I fixed it. I meant Jones. I think Hayward, Favors, Deng, Hinrich and Burke buys in. I think Parker is good enough that he doesn't have to fully buy in. I think Thibbs is good enough that he designs a defense that allows Parker to relax a little on defense.

I absolutely HATE that trade. Great young big that's probably better than Favors for "Dung".

lol. You do realize that Deng is an All-Star, right? Also, that Kanter doesn't have athleticism or explosiveness, and his ceiling is probably a poorer shooting, but better post game Memo? Kanter will never be a defender, he will never be effective in the paint, and has a tendancy to go all Al Jefferson in the post?

I'm not 100% sure I'd do the trade right now, but if he doesn't drastically improve this season, I do that trade in a heartbeat (of course, depending on what Deng's contract looks like).

Deng is 30 years old and Kanter is what 21-22 years old. I like Deng but not at the price he is looking for. Besides the time this team will be a contenders (fingers crossed) Deng will be old.

isn't there a game tonight?

We should just mail tonights game thread in and use lasts nights thread again for tonight.

Hell the game, and the thread, will probably be mostly repeats anywho

I'm going with poor coaching.

I find it hard to believe that our players are that much less talented than the suns are.

I think every fan knew we lost something special when Horny left. Hopefully the draft will make up for losing him.

I want to see Kanter play a season with a real coach before we trade him away. I think he has a lot of untapped potential.
