Ty Corbin's quote on playing Jefferson over Burks in the 4th.

"We were a little smaller and I thought Richard was going pretty good, made some plays for us, so we let it ride. I was thinking about bringing Burks back but Richard was playing pretty well.

And how does playing Richard fulfill the developing the young guys mandate from Dennis Lindsey? Corbin has two very attainable goals this season: development and defense. He doesn't even have to win games. What is he thinking? Our defense is crap, and Burks (and Kanter too if it wasn't for Favors' injury) is still getting ****ted on minutes wise.

I know that Corbin is the perfect tank commander and all, but dude should seriously be fired for never really giving the: Burke, Burks, Hayward, Kanter, Favors lineup a try. Criminal. Yes, Burks makes a good 6th man, but how do you know he doesn't also make a good starter? When did you even try the lineup for more than 2 minutes?

Could you imagine how terrible a Burke, Burks, Hayward, Kanter, Favors lineup would be? LOL. No spacing whatsoever. Trey and Favors would run a pick and roll, and Favors would roll right into Kanter. Or the ball would go to Kanter/Burks and Alfense would be back. At least Al was good at Alfense. No one would defend us against the three. They would pack the paint. We would forced into long jumpers by Kanter or Burks.

Wanna tank and NOT develop anyone? Run that lineup out there.

And you know this how? This is all based on what you know about these players playing in different lineups. Every lineup changes how players play. Remember Hayward last year? He shot 45% from 3 post December. Now, he can't shoot at all. If Burks was cutting and curling and doing more of the driving to the basket, maybe Hayward could chill on the perimiter for open looks again and regain that.

As is, R.J. shoots 35% from 3. Burks is shooting 32.4% --not a huge difference in terms of this spacing you think R.J. brings. If Hayward could regain his 3 pt shot from last year by having another competent ball handler out there (thus his useage rate and attention on him could conceivably go down), he could get better looks from 3 and fall into the rhythm that he used to have out there.

Just saying... you are spitting on something before it's been proven.

What's crazy is R.J. wasn't even playing that well. He shot 4/10 40% and 0-2 from 3, for 13 pts and had 3 TO in 33 minutes

while

Burks went 8-11 72.7 % 100% from FT, for 20 PTS with 2 PF and 2 TO in 25 minutes.

Incomparable.

This. Corbin needs to go and coach the Nets what with his love affair with veterans. He'd probably do a lot better than Kidd is right now.

Jefferson had 9 in the fourth quarter and a couple of offensive rebounds. After Burks left the game, the Jazz cut the lead from 14 to 5 with 1:30 to play. Not saying Burks wouldn't have played as well, but Corbin was right. Jefferson was playing well in the fourth. Corbin's trying to win games despite what you think his "mandate" is from Lindsey.
