Can the C.J. Miles experiment please end?

Miles just doesn't attack the rim. Oh, he'll dribble into the key to take a shot, but he avoids contact like he's afraid of cooties. And in jumping sideways or backwards to avoid any contact, he'll miss a close-range shot. And by avoiding contact, he also doesn't get fouled. Players who attack the rim (like Deron, or even AK, for example) get higher shooting percentages and more FTA as a result.

If he was afraid of contact why would he get so many fouls?

Wow i swear some people eitehr don't watch the games or don't think before they post. Bell ahs been garbage for us and can't shoot or stop anyone from scoring. Yet no one complains about him?Why do you think cj gets more minutes then bell?

CJ is a soft player that can't shoot straight. His percentages have actually gone down each year so if he somehow improves he might get back to where he was out of high school. Give Gordon a chance. At least he has heart. What's to loose?

Yea...CJ should should come practice darts with me to get his shot down.
He should also come play hopscotch with my kids to get his footwork down so he is slapping less.

Are you with me Hut?

It's obvious who the troll is Bonkers. You attempt to flood any thread the criticizes Miles with your claims of "hate" campaign. You think you are helping your cousin, but you are not.

hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Yet your the one with only one subject for 100% of your posts and can't even remember the name of the other players. As evidenced by your calling somebody on the team Rice. Who is Rice by the way? Can you name 20 players that have been on this team over the last 3 years without looking it up? Can you name 3 players on the camp roster that did not make the cut? Didn't think so because their name is not Miles.

With 95% of your total posts in either this thread or the other Cj bashing thread from a while back you are the very definition of a troll.

Here's a stat Bonkers: CJ missed 100% of his three pointers again tonight. But to be honest. The refs stole this game.

I agree 42 would not be 'fantastic.' Poor choice of words on my part. 42 offset by 40 would be fantastic to my mind. That would mean he's a deep threat missing more shots on drives than he should. The flip side to that is CJ doesn't get many calls to this point. Whether he should or not is another topic (I still think he needs to refine his drive game to get contact rather than trying to twist the ball in around defenders.) But guys who post higher percentages often get lots of missed shots erased in the stats by fouls.

Ray Allen led starting 2's last season at 48 percent. Maggette led starting 3's at 51. The dropoffs amongst starters is steep. I think CJ is going to inch toward 30 minutes averaged by the end of the year as his minutes increase. At 30 minutes, what he needs to average as a shooter depends on trips to the FT line. 42 with lots of free throws is great. If he's not going to get calls, he needs to average closer to 45. But his greatest benefit to the team is shooting close to 40 from distance. If he isn't keeping occupying a defender on the perimeter after the midpoint of the season, then he's much less valuable in the units to close halves and games.

So perhaps we could say we'd like Miles to have a PPS of ____________ come season's end. Is PPS even considered a worthwhile stat? I mean, I know Maggs leads the world in it every year so you should take it with a grain of salt but...

Thats BS. Miles does attack and does go right up the chest of players a lot.
Pffft. Now that is BS. He shoots less than 50% from within 10 feet of the basket. He has taken 9 shots from between 4 and 6 feet of the basket and missed them all*. He has been blocked 9 times, but only been fouled while shooting 13 times, and only three of those for an "and 1". He has dunked exactly once all season, and that was off a D-Will pass.

In defense of your position, he has committed two offensive charges all season, both against Miami. To be fair, he actually was going hard to the basket against Miami, and with some success apart from those two times, but that game was definitely the exception. In fact, being exceptional is what made me notice his play, but unfortunately he has since reverted to his old ways.

* Caveat: all these numbers are taken from the ESPN play-by-play. Six shots are listed without any distance, only one of which was a made shot - it is thus possible that he has made 1-10 from this range. OTOH, the 5 misses could easily all be from the same distance, too. Or they could all be layups. BTW, he's 13-21 on layups.

Boom, bitches.

And your point is? He shot 50% from the field and had 16 points. Even with missing 4 three's he still shot 50%. I have never contested that his shot is off right now.

You would find something to complain about even if he scored 100 points on 99% shooting and 20 shots. Your a hater and a troll plain and simple.

Even while being called out for your single minded hatred you can't find it in you to answer any of my questions about the team or find another topic to talk about anywhere on this board.

He's tied for the second worst FG% on the team, and is shooting an astonishing 27% from three point land.

Just saying...

And he's been in for every run they have made over the last 5 games and has the highest +/- on the team.

I don't doubt CJ's heart or toughness. The guy simply is not strong enough to go to the basket hard and be effective. He has to get fancy or settle for floaters, etc. All you bashing CJ for not taking it to the hole more should be a little more realistic rather than idealistic. Seriously consider what will happen if CJ takes your medicine. He'll get stuffed more often than fouled. He's a thin guy at 6'6" and not very powerful. Taking it to the rack requires elite strength. Why do you think Sloan has been saying CJ needs to get stronger ever since he's come into the league?

Let's work with what we have rather than wishing on a star. I'd like to see CJ improve his outside shot and work on pump faking to get inside a defender for an easy jumper.

Taking it to the rack requires elite strength? Dang, I thought it took hops. You better not tell Jeremy Evans or he will start to miss all those dunks: guy's as thin as a rail, certainly not elite strength. LOL

CJ is the only jazzman outside of Deron who can dribble drive effectively. So what if he shoots floaters versus dunks? he dunks when the opportunity arises. Oh, I know, you want Brewer back? He could sure dunk. Nothing else, but he could dunk.

Good info. Don't think his 0 for 4 last night will help his 3 percentage, but perhaps he can break through to the 28%. There's a goal.
