Hayward starting?

Hayward did fine last night. There are much better things to complain about, if one feels emotionally compelled.

This is actually a positive development.

I'm not even a Hayward fan and hated the pick, but we should be happy about the fact that Sloan is open to developing him early on this season. Let him show what, if anything, he's got and see how quickly he improves while playing with the big boys. It's not like Raja was being irreplaceable.

Kosta is playing up to 10-12 minutes a night for minesota, and has shown some productivity.
Umm, not really.

Kosta is averaging just under 3 pts and 2 rbds in 9 mins. Care to guess how many points and rebounds Hayward is averaging?

Yep, about the same.

As I posted in another thread, NO ONE drafted 10-16 has done much more than Hayward. If he trunrs out to be a BUST (which I doubt), then it's probably a safe bet that Patterson, Babbitt, George, Henry, etc. will also be "busts" - if we're basing that on the first 11 games.

Doghouse fo so for Hayward. Jean Luc--did you watch the game he did fine. Did you expect him to play like a superstar in his first start? Kid is 20 years old. For all those wanting to compare him to Matthews remember that.

I was at the game. I am not expecting him to play like a superstar.

He looks wound up, full of emotion and nothing like an NBA player. He gets abused on defense. He doesn't have a good grasp of the offense. He drops passes.

I think he is a mess. I am not pleased with what Hayward is doing at this stage in his career. I wish we didn't have such a "project" player on the team. I am happy to give him time, but right now, I think he is crap.

Jean-Luc:

WHEN was he abused on defense? He was fine. The rest of the team I can't say the same about. Are you going to say that Al Jefferson is nothing like an NBA player? His defense was atrocious last night as was his shooting. You and ncoloradojazz really should start a bowling team. The two of you are like a broken record when it comes to Hayward.

No kidding. I'm almost wondering if the whiners were watching the same game. He wasn't spectacular out there, but he wasn't bad out there either.

Hyperbole explosion...detonation,.

I like the idea. Worked with Mathews and Hayward has even more potential.

How doe shayward have more potential then wesley? Please explain. I love how some say wes is a finish product. This is only his second pro season forget his age, he is going to improve seeing how he has had only 2 years now where bball is fulltime job. Its some silly myth people have that player a has more potential then player b simply cuz he is 2 years younger. Wade improved coming out of college and he was a 23 year old rookie. Potential is a word people toss around for player sthat end up being a bust. WEs has produced on the court and did so as a rookie but ya hes a finished product.Roll my eyes

Don't get me wrong, I think trading Mathews was a mistake, but nobody wanted Miles of course. I see the same kind of spirit in Gordon that Mathews had. Not sure if he has more potential than Mathews, but he sure seems to have the right stuff and he is taller, the only downside to Mathews.

So who did we get for Matthews in the "trade"?
Just curious... and wondering if you've been a Jazz fan for more than 3 months.

height means nothing. WEs has huge shoulders and is probally one of the strongest guards in the league. WEs is tougher then hayward and id say more athletic in game time

Not sure what your point is. This thread is about Hayward getting more time. Miles started instead of Mathews initially. Now Miles comes in instead of Gordon. Sloan is kind of slow, but he might notice the kid with heart on the end of the bench like he did with Mathews.
