What's new

God, Family, Healthy, Business

Sounds like we have the same new year's resolution. My dopamine levels have gotten so low and my receptors so trashed that I had to make a change. It's amazing how quickly focusing on dopamine through diet and exercise can turn things around. As a side bonus for the staring ladies, I bet I'll shed 5-8% of my weight in the first month alone, too.

I'm also ready for the next wave of mass posters to take root.

Are you primarily focusing on L-tyrosine in your diet changes? What are you doing specifically, diet-wise?

So would you give up on God in order to save you kids from death?
Lets say some terrorist dude holds a gun to you daughters head and asks you to spit on a Bible/Quran/Book of Mormon or whatever religion symbol you are following in order to save her - what would be your choice?

God willing, I'd pull out my gun and shoot the sob first.

Seriously though, good on you PKM. I've been getting the same feeling/urge to do the same recently.

Hope it all goes well for ya. God bless.

Awesome PKM! First congrats to growing closer to God, and then congrats to going sober. Good luck with both of them. PM if you ever wanna talk about it.

As for AK's question: I point you towards Matthew 10:33
Matthew 10:33 ESV

"But whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven."

Another example is Peter. While he was forgiven, we learned that him denying just knowing Jesus 3 times was wrong. So yeah, given your example, I would not spit on the Bible or deny my faith towards God.

Truth is, I quit alcohol about 10 days ago, got re-acclimated with my Savior, and have been eating healthy and working out... and I crave that more than JF .. at least in this 'season.'

Congratulations on the changes in diet and habit, and I hope it works well for you.

Kind of, but eating meat isn't a problem for me so I'm not going to supplement it. More importantly, other dopamine and overall brain building & supporting compounds like the omega's, antioxidants, and whatever other mystery compounds are in fruits, berries, nuts, and vegetables. For me, antioxidants are such a huge factor that my brain reacts instantaneously to blueberries -- brain fog starts to clear up literally within seconds of swallowing my first bite. I also get a good pickup from salmon and almonds within a couple minutes if I'm hung over, and much minor stimulants from certain fruits (as could be expected from the sugars alone, but it's more than that for me). I'm also eating a lot of beans, herbal and spiced tea, low bread carbs (potatoes instead), seeds, oatmeal, soups, 5-hr energy a couple times a week because b(rain)-vitamins kick ***, and no coffee or soda.

My theory is the antioxidants are supporting dopamine that exists in low levels so any support from breakdown is very meaningful. Upping non-meat tyrosine intake is also about the oils, etc. that come in those foods, and also balancing a diet for overall health and to control the sugar cycle.

It's basically a diet to counteract the typical brain effects of drinking way too much (low dopamine and receptors, and low energy => results in low emotion => which makes activities and life less and less enjoyable => which stimulates drinking).

Anyone see any holes in this reasoning?

Also, not trying to hijack PKM's attention whoring, just adding because it could be pertinent to what he's trying to accomplish.

God knows what's in my heart, and knows I'd only do it to save those I love.

That's fine and dandy, and I see what you're saying, but let's talk hypothetical, since we can. You and your son are out for a walk and some emo-fruit basket decides to put a gun to your kids head and says, "If this is your daddy, then I'm going to shoot you in the head. If it's not, then you go on about your business." Do you seriously, as a father, expect your child to proudly say, "Yes, he is my father." only to have his brains blown out? Ya, it's more complicated than that, but not really. I have the belief that my God, or my Father in Heaven, would rather have me continue my life, to continue being a blessing for others, to be there for my kids, etc. rather than die over symantec's. Just because I deny my faith in order to save a life doesn't mean that all of a sudden I don't believe in my faith anymore, so why would it all of a sudden mean that my Father would disown me? It just doesn't pass the smell test for me. I understand you're a big time Bible guy, and that's fine, I dig the bible, but we just see it differently.

I don't mind hijacking it; he won't read it anyhow.

I understand the point you're trying to make, but the analogy doesn't fit. My hypothetical child (or me) lying about where his faith lies is completely different than lying about who his father is. One of them could make a difference in the eternal perspective, one of them doesn't. Again, I think a more applicable story is Abraham and Isaac (of course it's from the Bible).

Let me put it this way...those terrorists have me, they say if I don't deny/renounce/speak ill of my faith that they'll kill me in front of my kid. If I do that, then isn't it possible my kid thinks that I don't think enough of my faith that it's worth dying for? Now would this be an easy decision? Of course not. However I would die for my faith, and I have no problem saying that. As a Christian, shouldn't we teach our families, friends and loved ones that death isn't a frightening result? If we truly believe, then we believe that when we die, we go to Heaven. There's nothing more glorious than that.

Well, sounds like really good things for your life, but bad things for this website, so I guess it's a wash

Talk to you soon if I don't see you on here brother.
