Following potential 2014 draftees

how is this assessment of Embiid?

Strengths:
- Timing
- Versatility
- Ability to face the basket
- Nimble footwork
- Shot-blocking skills
- Strong Intangibles
- Work ethic
- Passing skills
- Above average athleticism
- Fluidity
- Mid-range Jumper

Weakness:
- Physical Toughness
- Older than class peers
- Average explosiveness
- Lower body strength
- Defensive rebounding

Defensive rotations are a strength. He covers ground on defense as well as Favors does. That's why having both on the floor together would give every other player an insurance policy.

Burke, Hayward/Burks, a 3D guy, Favors and Embiid would be a serious team.

I also think Embiid could become a 20-point scorer and a go-to post scorer, who can pass from the low block.

Wow Embiid is just a beast..Guy is so fluid and coordinated for a kid his size hes such a great passer you can run an offnese through him..he already has counter moves in the post..

I think he has to go 1 his upside is so much higher then anyone else and hes not really that raw..Only way he doesnt go 1 is if a gm buckles under the pressure of Wiggins or Parker being bigger names to placate their fanbase..

Like pjkino said... embiid was very fun to watch tonight.... he just looks so natural with the ball. great passing, great footwork, quickness, soft touch, nice offensive rebounding instincts, some nastiness/emotion, blocking shots. Looking like the #1 pick tonight

Wiggins with 19 rebs?! Yowza!

I think Wiggins went from overrated to underrated..The Lebron or Kobe comparisons were assinine hes not that level of player hes not evne Durant/Rose level prospect imo but the backlash from it makes it seem like hes trash by some people..

Dont get me wrong he has alot to work on..his handles,he doesnt finish great on drives etc i also feel like hes been holding back in fear of getting hurt because he hasnt shown the same freakish level explosion and athletic ability he appeared to have in hs...

Yeah, I haven't watched the game yet - but will soon. It seems like Embiid sort of outshined him based on what I'm reading on the Internets.

embiid was spectacular...... but quietly somehow. Wiggins was kinda same old same old imo..... Solid but unspectacular.
Seems like wiggins is solid in almost every game but never has that breakout 40 point game I keep waiting and hoping for.

Lots of people have soured on this draft recently but I just see it as an even deeper draft than I though it was.... I thought it was wiggins, parker and randle or bust, but I think maybe someone at #5 or 6 might just be as good
jazz gotta stay in that top 5 range but I don't think they can

Yep, probably not as strong at the very top, but should be deep.

Said this in another thread, but fo real...PKM was calling attention to emblid and Exum a few years ago.

We need a top 8 pick. I think you can almost guarantee an all star in that range. a little dicey the next 4 and then some nice role players through most of the 1st round.

Here is my call

3 superstars

8 All stars

13 starters

( superstars and all stars factored into the starters)

Embiid is gonna go 1st overall. 83 draft all over again. GMs will never pass on a potential 2-way big-man.

I think Wiggins got tired of people saying that he wasn't that special. I was hearing a of comments like. He's not as good as Lebron or Durant. Basically so he's not a game changer. Wiggins is a future All-Star. So what if he's not Lebron or Kobe. I think he'll end up a lot closer than some think he'll be.

He could, but if he doesn't you're in no mans land with no flexibility to either tank your way up and no way to add talent from the outside.
Plus I don't think you can win today's NBA with just 1 shot creator. Burke has some limited potential in that area, that could be expanded with a stretch 4.
Hayward can take advantage of bad defensive rotations but other than that he's not doing too much right now.
Favors has 2 more summers to develop that part of his game with Malone. After that I won't count on him scoring something other than open 12footer and dunks. Questionable IMO. Won't at least rely on that happening.
So an elite wing for me it is.

When I watch Wiggins for most of the game I think what is the big deal. Then he'll make two or three plays that make me scratch my head and wonder why he doesn't dominate. Maybe he isn't strong enough yet and his handle isn't ready. But his jumper is there and his finishing ability will continue to improve as he becomes stronger.

I would still be very happy drafting him.

Didn't you hear, this draft is overrated.
