Nice overall effort for the team but the Jazz lost simply because Burke and Hayward had horrible games. The Jazz have no chance of winning if both guys play bad. Alec Burks is a stud and I was most excited about his jump shooting. If he can consistently make jump shots then he is star in the making.
Someone made the comment that we shouldn't worry about re-signing our young guys because of the ton of cap room the Jazz have, which is true but short-sighted because all you have to do is look at GS to know that you can have a great starting five but if you have no bench your team will be in trouble come playoff time.
I was excited to see Gobert play. While he is very raw offensively his paint defense is worth some minutes. He needs to be coached up regarding the pick and roll and on offense his teammates need to start throwing the ball higher instead at his knees. I was sad to see Evans get hurt. He is a great kid and he was playing really well. Evans was being aggressive with his jump shot. I hope he isn't seriously hurt and he can come back and play. I read somewhere that both Trey and Jefferson were game time decisions because they have been battling the stomach flu so I will cut them some slack for their poor performance tonight.
Dante Garrett was unbelievable tonight. His best game as a Jazzman. I thought he should have remained in the game considering how well he was playing and how poorly Burke was playing. Tonight I thought Corbin made a few bad decisions. Not playing Kanter more, taking out Garrett and having both Burke and Hayward handle the ball down the stretch. Not one of his better games.
