14th Tank Platoon

But think what it will do for the global NBA brand to put Parker in LA, Embiid in Boston and Wiggins in New York?

New York doesn't own their own pick if I'm not completely mistaken.

Whaaaaa???? Go down the list, I dare ya.

Oh and the 11th and 9th pick are the 1st and 2nd best players. **** draft, anyone should be happy with a serviceable player.

Me likey dat 6th and 15th pick even more ;)

True.

But it's not the NBA helping out these teams. It's those teams out tanking us that's the issue. How the hell are we screwing up this tank? It was set in stone practically that after the GS trade we were going to be one terrible dumpster fire this year. Nope.

We refuse to tank.

The best way to build a losing culture? Never become bad enough to obtain a difference maker. And never obtain enough talent to actually compete.

Sigh

Yip all that culture talk basically only counts when you have the talent needed. Even after Durant was drafted, they tanked another 2 years and Durant addressed that himself. Being played out of position and stuff about weird lineups.

Dallas and Memphis are right on the heels of Golden State in the standings. They really could push the Ws into the lotto.
Dallas on the road @Phi, @Det, @NY for the next 3 games. Who do I cheer for in those games?

Perhaps Dallas (already conceded the tank to Philly), Dallas (Detroit should be able to hold off Utah), then NY (Knicks desperately need to start winning).

Sounds like a Win win for each...

I guess you can blame it on Favors, Burke, Burks, Hayward and Kanter not being busts. We needed less out of those players. Or perhaps one of them could have done Utah a solid by tripping over a gym bag on the way to get their pizza.

The "tank" was NEVER set in stone. What was set in stone after the GS trade was a way for Utah to miss the playoffs and get a lottery pick, not to be one of the league's worst teams. Compare us to Portland last season: solid starters, zero bench, 33 wins. Jazz are roughly in the same boat, although Burks and Kanter come off the bench. Whether you start them and strengthen the starting 5 and have a weak bench or have a weaker starting group and stronger bench...it's all the same.

The Jazz are lucky to be where they are right now. Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Boston and Orlando were GUARANTEED to be awful. Their rosters have nowhere near the talent that Utah does. We all thought Phoenix would be bad. Well, they surprised, only to be replaced by an injury-ravaged Lakers team. The 1-14 start was a mirage. The schedule was BRUTAL! Jazz were never that bad, but some got their hopes up and started having wet dreams over Parker and Wiggins.

Only way to have gotten a top-3 pick was to dump 2 of the five "core" (or have them be busts all on their own). Guess Lindsey should have traded Favors and Burks to Phoenix for Okafor. That would have done it.

Don't shoot the messenger. The news wasn't great for Utah when I ran the "tank" team comparisons in terms of home/away and strength of schedule.

And, unfortunately, it's not very good news when looking at the 6th-9th seeds in the Western Conference. Golden State has the easiest remaining schedule and Memphis has the worst. Phoenix and Dallas are about even. I just don't see the Grizzlies knocking anyone out of the playoffs. I see a greater likelihood of GS moving up to 6th than I do of them falling to 9th.

W's just got a little better by trading for Blake. Not a huge pickup, but probably enough, combined with the easier schedule as illustrated above, to guarantee a spot in the playoffs.

AS for the other side of the tank, good wins for New York and Cleveland. Looks like Detroit is in full-tank mode, though. Maybe I was wrong about them staying ahead of Utah.

$#@!!
Boston put up a valiant fight. And Sacramento and Lakers are on their way to defeats. Oh well, at least Utah lost and Cleveland and NY won.

Escaped with the loss tonight. It was a very winnable game. Once again, the poor shooting of Hayward and poor coaching of Corbin snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

Great loss..... especially since it was at home.

Thank god favors was out.

One nice thing: at some point in the year I was worried about the suns, cavs, knicks, pelicans, wizards, and bulls.
I am no longer worried about any of those teams so the tank could definitely be worse.
