Game #54. Jazz at Blazers

Good loss. Burke and Kanter has been fantastic. Good game by Hay as well.

Weird way to end the game though. Should have gone for a 3.

Ty's high school taught him that a 3 point shot is a bad idea. Even when you are down by 8 points with 25 seconds left.

We are into march and still wonder what the C5 would look like playing together.

2013-2014 season? An even greater epic fail than 2012-2013 and 2011-2012.

I'm so glad we played Raja Bell, Josh Howard, Randy Foye, Paul Millsap, Richard Jefferson, Brandon Rush, and Marvin Williams over our young players. I really see these vets listed above as being in our long term plans and contributing greatly to our franchise in the future......
Really? You're complaining about Brandon Rush's minutes now? What is it like in your brain?

I wouldn't call him a terrible defender. But an Effortless one. I think he can be a better defender. He needs to practice some volleyball and ping pong.

I wouldn't say effortless at all. I would say dumb defender. He has the same problem Al had. He lacks defensive anticipation, and he is slow. Those things make for some very late rotations. The thing about Al though was that he was actually a pretty good post-defender, Kanter has to work on using his strength to keep his man out of the post. Hopefully the mental aspect of help defense comes to him.

Haters gonna hate.
Playing Rush HELPS the tank. Seriously, if Burks had played more minutes and Jefferson and Williams less, Jazz may have won the game. And then there would be bitching about not benching our main players and how Corbin (and DL) were blowing the tank.

Moar Rush! Moar Jefferson!

I complained about all the mins given to the vets. Why should Rush be playing at all? Why not give those mins the Hayward, Burks, Garrett, hell even Evans?

That's actually a bit unfair to Rush and it isn't in the best interest of the Jazz to let talent rot for no good reason. Rush's salary isn't horrible like Jefferson's, so we may want to re-sign him if he plays well with the team. So far he doesn't look good enough to bother re-signing, but he has been injured much of the last two years and it really doesn't cost us anything to give him 10 minutes a game to see if we should keep him. Just because we didn't draft him doesn't mean he has no place in the Jazz's future.

Kanter's defensive shortcomings are overstated and Favors defensive ability THIS season is also overstated. Both players are suffering this year on that end of the floor because they're finally having to learn to not foul and play defense at the same time. This is an argument for why you play young players early because defending without fouling isn't reall a necessary skill when you can't get more than 25 minutes in a given game even if it's the game of your life.

There is no reason why Rush should be getting any Pt. None. Whatsoever.

Way I see it is Utah WANTS to tank. So Rush and Jefferson should play 48 minutes. And Hayward needs to have more of those 3-17 nights.

So Thriller, I thought the idea of the tank is to LOSE games? To do that you AVOID playing the best players when possible. If they're hurt, you let them rest additional games. If they're hot, Corbin needs to ice them on the bench, which he did perfectly with Burks last night. This tank thing really isn't that hard to figure out: less Favors, Burks, Burke, Hayward and Kanter. More Jefferson, Rush, Evans, Garrett, etc. I've given up on Corbin ever playing Thomas, Clark or Lucas.

It would also help if the Jazz perimeter players offered any resistance at all or rotated to help the bigs. Trey, RJ and Alec are pretty ****ing worthless defensively.
