What's new

Game Thread:The Utah Tankers at Tanking Vs. The Indiana Blue Steel Pacers!! 4:00PM

Regardless of it being the main problem or not, the offense had been painful to watch early on. Lately, and especially, this game, it was fun to watch and was effective against a good defensive team.

Agreed. It has improved, but how much credit do we give Corbin? Of course it was going to look awful early on without a PG, and a lot of young guys in new roles though.

Not saying Corbin shouldn't get credit, but it's debatable.

Anybody see Stephenson just push Evans out of the way on his way to an easy layup? How pathetic is it that a PF can't stand up to a SG?

Stephenson is one of the stronger and more aggressive SG's in the league. Could very well be the strongest.

Maybe. But as a PF it should still embarrass him that he got shoved right out of the way. It was pretty pathetic.

high center of gravity + low weight = easily moved. That will never change with him.

edit: Stephenson has 25 pounds on jeremy. Its not surprising in the least that he can move him.

This is why my opinion is that Jeremy should be a SF not a PF. He not big enough and never will be. His shot is coming around and he has looked great in spots this year. But I don't ever see him being a rotation player on a contending team. Unless it's as a SF. He need to keep working on that shot.

If we had limited our TO's or if Derrick would have hit his FT's, this game would have been ours easily.

Agree. That was the main difference in the game. Shooting %'s, FT's, rebounds, etc.: all were pretty close. It came down to Utah having 8 (IIRC) more TO's than Indiana. I guess you can say FORTUNATELY it came down to that as we really don't want to win!

Agree. He's a deep rotation guy. If he signs cheap, he can continue to be the 9th/10th guy playing against weaker teams, in case of injuries, etc. Jazz could sign him to a short-term deal, but then it becomes difficult to keep a guy like Jeremy. Once the Jazz have their "core8" in place (3 bigs, 3 wings, 2 PG's) and need to pay them, there isn't much salary left. It will have to be mostly players on rookie contracts to fill out the lineup.

He is a back-up PF. He can't guard David West, but David West caliber players aren't usually in 2nd units.

Most SF's can still exploit strength advantages on Evans, but Evans can't exploit his quickness on them as much as he can backup PF's.

If this is the case then he is currently seeing the most minutes he ever will or should. Because as a backup PF he is not strong enough on either end of the floor. He does some good things, but if just gets pushed around by wing players then how can he ever expect to defend PF's? Even backup PF's on contending teams.
