Scoop Jackson article on ESPN on how Doug McDermott is the real #1 pick in this draft.

Thoughts?

I like the kid even more since I have been watching him more. I was hoping that GS wouldn't make the playoffs so we could select him with a late lottery pick. I think he will go in the lottery but I don't think he is a number one pick especially in this draft. He would be great on the Jazz coming off the bench and being one of the main scorers. I don't think his defense is a as bad as people assume. Besides I really don't think there are that many great defenders left in the NBA. I think he is a better shooter than Hayward and I wouldn't be against trading Hayward to acquire a higher pick to get McDermott especially if Hayward wants to much money.

Hayward IS a good shooter. Even with the lousy year he's having, his career numbers are 44%/37%. He's averaging 16/5/5 this season. And he's a solid defender. No doubt McDermott is a dead-eye shooter, but that might be it. There are serious ?'s about his ability to defend. Two different types of players. One is versatile; the other a specialist.

There were serious questions about Hayward being able to defend. We will have to wait and see. People forget that McDermott played well at the Olympic trials so he certainly has caught the eyes of scouts and NBA GMs. I think he is going to be a solid NBA because he can shoot. He is up there with Korver.

I like Selden. I think he has gotten lost a little with all the talent on Kansas. I think he will be a key to how far they go in the tournament. I think he could be a decent NBA but he is a few years away. I would definitely take him with the 23rd pick.

Yea I wavered a little between Embiid, Parker and Wiggins but now Wiggins is my guy. If he is on the board when the Jazz pick, it would be the easiest decision to pick him.
