Yep the one and done universities don't have the gel time that a lot of mid majors benefit from. Anyone can be beat.

Not sure how Fred will do the lineups, but I'm guessing our JUCO newcomer Edozie will get more minutes. He'll be an upgrade on the glass and on the defensive end, but he can't do anything on offense. They also have Percy Gibson, but he's quite slow and doesn't know how to pass. Hoiberg might try putting Hogue or Ejim at the five for some minutes, but I don't know how long he'll be able to do that against Carolina.

This is a HUGE loss. The area where I feel Iowa State has an advantage over many teams is their ability in half-court offense, and Niang is the reason why. He's the main playmaker in the half-court because there is rarely anyone in the country who can guard him and he passes very well. Now we're pretty much limited to Kane pnr's and isos (which is still a fairly good option) and Ejim isos (which are so-so, much better in the post). I think Monte Morris (freshman PG) will be encouraged to make a few more plays in his absence. He's been good, but he's a freshman and hasn't had to initiate offense at all this year really.

Just horrible. Cyclones are my favorite team is this tournament. And thier main weaknesses are depth and size, imo. This hurts them even more in both areas. Niang is so skilled and crafty. reminds me of louis scola but even more skilled tbh. Niang kicked byu's trash earlier this year.

Love kane. His defense and leadership are off the charts.

Had iowa state in my final four losing to florida.... niang injury hurts them alot though. probably wont get there now. :(

Sorry Lazy, Im still pulling for them but damn thats a rough injury

Niang absolutely destroying Nate Austin on 3 or 4 consecutive possessions to end that Iowa State/BYU game still haunts me. That does suck though. I can't see any of these teams with major injuries going much further: Michigan, Kansas, Arizona, and now Iowa State.

Me too.

Frankly, we don't stand a chance now. ISU could beat anyone with Niang, and was definitely better than UNC and Nova with him imo. Now the UNC and potential Nova matchup are pickems.

Really hope they can destroy UNC doe cuz **** Roy

I've not been sold on Michigan all year... but there are two reasons Texas CANNOT beat them.
