Following potential 2014 draftees

if randle comes in at 6ft 8 1/2 or taller then i don't mind taking him at #5. i hope he puts up good measurements and overall numbers because i like this kid alot at #5. but if i have to guess, vonleh will put up a better numbers and he will confuse da hell out of gms. maybe some gm may even reach to get vonleh over randle which i think would be a big mistake.

no homo, love randle's nba ready man body.

i guess i can see him at 6ft 8 1/2. big and thick dudes tend to look shorter on the court. i would be ecstatic if he is full 6ft 9. i mean if that happens, i won't even think twice. grab him.

lol

-Randle: has a man's body (loses train of thought.....)

Lol. And I agree.
If you like randles body then you love Patrick Young from floridas body.

but randle has a fluid hip. what a nice pair of bun bun which is more important than upper in this industry. and delicious footwork. and very creative down low especially when he has a ball in his hands. he can score on dudes and he ain't gonna be shy about it

according to LaVine he has a 41" standing vertical, no one has ever registered over 40" standing at the combine

6'2½ Nick Johnson also has a reported 47 inch vertical and 38" standing vert, his dad had a 52" vertical apparently

We'll see if we're right about him but I find it very odd that you say everyone doesn't have a clue about him just because he played at a different stage.

Well, different stage is one way of putting it. Maybe I'm missing some film others have seen, but there's, what, ~2 complete games against suspect competition and then some hoop summit games and U-19 stuff.

In those highlights I obviously see his potential along with his size. Yes, I see his first step. I also see a kid that doesn't seem to play above the rim and still gangly and awkward at times.

Give me 25-30+ games of known competition to watch him in a myriad of circumstances against competition I can quantify (hoop summit aside) and we'd all know a lot more about the kind of prospect he is. Can you argue that? I'm interested in having a real conversation so I'm open to being wrong.

There are obviously no guarantees but again, these college kids typically give us those 25-30 games to glean some valuable info and see them in multiple situations against that quantifiable competition.

Not to mention players who play in competitive leagues also have to deal with their games getting scouted against competition.

that's impressive if he can really do it in the predraft.

usually nba guys don't have that kinda explosive hops standing still. they need a running start. but it's not impossible since many NFLers put up 40+ inch vert with 2 feet. megatron had 43inch standing vert.

52" vert is insane. it looks something like this

Interesting. That makes me wonder if his dad was a guy I'd heard about with the last name Johnson (Dennis Johnson's brother) who played at the College of Southern Idaho - they said he could put a nickel on top of the backboard, among other legendary jumping feats.

i'll believe it when i see it. even james white couldn't touch the top of the backboard.

if he could really do that, why not put it on the youtube? that's an instant 10 mil view.

This guy played at CSI in the mid-80s. That might be one reason it wouldn't be on Youtube. Keep in mind, I didn't say it actually happened - rather I used the terms "they said" and "legendary".

Also, whether it's possible or not, I'm not sure, but while James White is one of the great leapers of all-time, he's not the best I've ever seen. That title belongs to Michael Wilson, who played at Memphis in the mid-90s - an absolute freak jumper.

thats his dad, Jumpin' Joey Johnson

Tony Parker doesnt have crazy explosion yet hes still one of the most athletic point guards in the league using his quickness and hand eye coordination, Exum is easily one of the more gifted athletes this year or he wouldn't be thought of so highly in such a draft.

Carter-Williams has a 40" vertical and has plenty of trouble finishing around the rim, im not sure its fair to kill Dante over explosion when theres plenty of reason to believe hes crafty around the rim with good touch.

the competition level is really the elephant in the room and the main concern, other then that its his frame and the adjustment to the states/nba

Fran Fraschilla whos gotten a chance to see him a bunch said early this month hed take Exum before Wiggins, his list was Embiid, Parker, Exum, Wiggins

“He’s got great basketball instincts,” Fraschilla said. “He’ll drive in, and when you think he’s going to use his right hand, he’ll switch to the left hand at the last minute. He’ll take off about a half step earlier than you think he should, but then he’ll hang in the air and bank it off the glass…Getting your own shot in the league is a skill.”

“He reminds me of a young, 1982 circa North Carolina Michael Jordan,” Fraschilla said of Exum. “He’s not going to be as great, obviously, unless I’m wrong… but he kind of reminds you of a young colt that’s just about to run his first claimer race, and you’re looking at him (thinking), ‘This guy could win the Kentucky Derby someday.’”
cant find all the quotes but Fraschilla also thinks Exum is one of 2 Franchise changing players this year(Embiid),Also says hes a project

"So we're talking about a baby here. We're talking about a guy that's going to get run or shot over - at least initially.

"But the long-term potential, to me, is as great as anybody in this draft, including all the guys that we've hyped the last two years."
