I don't know whether to take this as a compliment or an insult. Either way, what's you opinion on Stevenson's defense at the two?
The NBA has been in a long process of condensing toward perfection, with players learning to game for calls rather than being pure athletic freaks, and the refs have done what they can to keep up. Boil down, boil down, condense.
The offensive schemes are being adjusted to the stat discoveries too. How are players supposed to be elite defenders these days and still play the other way? For starters, the guards are way too athletic to be stopped by a guy going in reverse. Also, defenses play like one of those kinekt balls, packing the paint when anyone drives, then the ball handler finds a shooter on the wing. We didn't have this back in the day of the Hero Defensive Greats.
I remember James Harden playing competitive defense when he was a sixth man and could afford the fouls. I think all the elite offensive players are capable of playing both ways if the rules allowed it.

Put Lance on this current roster and I doubt he's the same player.
If by good defense you mean illegal defense supported by horrible refs then yes you're right.
Interesting question. They bring some similar and some different things to the table. If we went big with Embiid or Randle that's a guy that would be an intriguing free agency target. I think he has the strength and length to play defense at the 3 similar to Jimmy Butler.
No shotblocker, but he will be in your driving lane and put a hand in your face.
We might find out this summer depending on negotiations and offers from other teams.

That was really impressive. His ability to adjust while in the air and make the shot and his balance/recovery with contact is impressive for a big dude. Those looked like moves that would work in the NBA.
I think it was Bleacher report has the Jazz taking Embiid fourth and at #23 they have us taking T.J. Warren. I worry that Warren isn't a very good outside shooter (3 pt) but the kid can score.
There may be quite a few options at #23 because of the depth of this draft: Who would you guys pick if the following were available at #23 knowing the Jazz selected Embiid (if he enters the draft).

Depends on background check and workout.
But when I look at raw talent I'd choose this order:
Young > Warren > Hairston > Grant
I also think everybody getting a first round promise will come out this year. A lot of late first rounders are traded from contenders to lottery teams. Better chance to get in a position where you're getting exposure regardless of fit.

McDaniels can score and he plays great defense, plus he's a good athlete. I'm a huge fan of his. I could switch Young and Warren easily, but I like that Warren has actually proven that he can score. McDaniels is definitely my favorite out of the group, primarily because of his defense.

Nicky you know no more is ther difference 1 to 4 in NBA for good player. Randle will play point like point guard play power forward. Randle can shooting guard and handle balls.
