What's new

Messina says he would love coming to the Jazz!!!

Why would you want to go and take away one of the few joys I have here in Tucson? But, yeah, Miller's special.

May as well.. uk boosters planning to come after him once Calipari retires.. and he knows it. Believe dat.

Hoiberg - wouldn't take it
Donovan - wouldn't take it
Jay Wright (ugh) - might take it
Sean Miller - would take it and could be big.

What about Shaka Smart or Ollie from UConn?

I don't think we have to worry about Messina going to the Lakers. The Lakers will want to make a big splash and hire a well known coach in the United States, like stealing Popovich away from the Spurs, or Coach K, or Rick Pitino. They do everything "Hollywood" style so I doubt they'd go after a relatively unknown coach like Messina (despite his apparent coaching excellence). Just my opinion.

The thing thy have going for him, is that he was an assist coach a few years ago with them... So they know who he is.

My vote is all for SVG. He really knows how to perform with the roster structure and i am sure he's gonna caryy his passion to the youngsters.

Nope, cross-referenced Babelfish with a couple other websites, and searched some of the terms independently on google.

Confirmed. I speak Portuguese and Spanish so I can read Italian well enough. Damn Lakers are going to get him. That's probably why they reached a settlement with D'Antoni to re-sign.

Messina has nit even been offered... lol.

Even IF the Jazz were convinced Messina is the Messiah, I think Lindsey would wait until his season is done. I'll bet Messina meets with both Lindsey and the Laker brass by the end of the month.

It is the end of the month!!!

I would much rather win the NBA lottery, then get Messina, hypothetically speaking so if it meant choosing between either one, I choose winning the lottery and hiring Boylen or Longabardi. Bring on the karma of winning the lottery instead of a getting a good coach because we all know how far a good coach can get you but if you have the opportunity to draft a franchise changing player and win championships with said player then I could care less which coach it is. Also, I use to be pretty sour on the idea of Boylen but maybe the dude couldn't recruit but can coach a lot of lesser players up, just saying, but those are my two cents for whatever that is worth, I trust Dennis Lindsey will get his guy and it will be the right one for the franchise.

GUYS the Jazz are (in my opinion) waiting on Vogel, to see if he gets fired if the Pacers lose to Hawks (or in the 2nd round probably).

What makes it interesting is that D'antoni resigned, Messini has Lakers ties, so he's definitely going to be in play for that team as well. Makes it a waiting game gamble.

I just want to see a strong character man with real experience in European patterns for the job. If Messina ends up stolen by the Lakers, there are still a lot of equal value coaches to give the Jazz what he can give in the European pool. No need to be the nationalist in coach pick.

Heard on the radio this morning that both the UConn coach and Calipari are high on the fakers list. These could be the "big splash" names that they would want. I'm hoping so because the more I read about Messina, the more I want the Jazz to get him.

Messina's NBA coaching experience is a big plus over other candidates without any taste of this league. Especially over other Euro coaches and lesser so over top college candidates. Even if he was here for just a few short months, he'll have a leg up of how to implement his vision that the others up can't have without prior experience.

The fact that he was in unsuccessful in the NBA, was highly successful in a lesser league and would love to return reminds me a bit of Pete Carroll's path to the Sea hawks. He has the potential to do very well for a long time wherever he would end up here. Hope it's in Utah.
