What's new

***Official new head coach search thread*** (merged)

Here's a wild idea.
Would Warriors consider Ty Corbin as HC?
He's the opposite of M Jackson.
He a loyal company yes man who follows orders.
A stabilizing force who gets along with everyone.
Did he play with Del Curry?
He has some connections to Steph Curry if so.

Not meaning to sound like a dick...but why should we care about Golden State's coaching search? This is a Jazz forum, I care about who the Jazz will hire. Screw Golden State...

Aside from us owning many-a-pick from them for the next three years, I couldn't think of anything more Jazz-relevant than their franchise steam rolling into the ground over the next decade.

Good point. In that case, let's hope Golden State **** blocks us and "steals" Boylen away from us.

According to the Journal Times:

"The speculation of Utah possibly hiring Ettore Messina definitely has legs. Messina, currently the head coach of CSKA Moscow, is well respected in the coaching fraternity and, more important, has a great rapport with some Utah front office officials."

It is not has high profile as soem other jobs (Lakers, Knicks) but I think Utah has it's own appeal. Family friendly, growing team with solid building blocks, job security (as you mentioned), history of winning and competing...

Don't forget the tremendous fan support and a relatively docile media. Don't think too many coaches are into the clubbing scene. A stable front office, a competent GM, and roster flexibility are all desirable in coaching and Utah has all of that in Spades. If the Jazz get a top 3 pick, they could easily be the top coaching destination. This is why the Boylen talk is crap. . .

Anyplace is family-friendly when making several million dollars a year.

True. But it is more ingrained, at all levels, in SLC than other large cities I have been to.
Someone should also tell Ettore he need not worry about moving furniture and boxes into his new house if he moves to Salt Lake for the season. A full crew of men in their 20's-30's can be mobilized on a Sat. morning to take care of it. Just need to make an announcement the Sunday before.

Anyone else going crazy over the lack of news?
For a team that was supposedly going to have 20 HC prospects, none have been brought in so far. I get the sense DL likely has set his crosshairs on a coach that is currently unavailable right now due to other commitments (Boylen or Messina).

While that is only speculation it is what I feel as well. To me it gives legs to the Messina and Boylen rumors.

More than a couple. Two stars in Curry and Thompson who are both very young. Barnes and Green (who came on at the end of the season) are also young. And Bogut, Lee and Iguodala are not that old (29-31). They will have room to add a mid-range FA. They should be able to compete for home court for the next few years and probably are the favorites to win the Pacific. Clippers are up against the tax limit (over this season) and won't be able to add anybody. I doubt that whoever the NBA approves will have the authority to put/keep LA into the luxury tax.

Bogut can't stay healthy, Lee was hurt last year and this year, Iguodala was hurt at the beginning of the year. So yes they have talent but their depth is the reason why they are out of the playoffs. Barnes and Green are nice complimentary players but Barnes seemed to regress this year and Green is inconsistent. I haven't looked at the financials but how can GS add a player. Bogut and Iggy just signed new deals and I know Lee isn't cheap. Curry is a bargain but his injury history isn't great. Barnes and Green will need to be paid. Again I am two lazy to look but it seems they would be close to the luxury tax level. They have no pick this year and in 2017. So it could fall apart real quick if injury-prone guys have other injuries and Barnes and Green leave.

Yes. But I feel real good about the teams ability to identify undrafted free agent rookies.

Yes. Like a meth addict waiting for his next hit...I keep checking this thread to see if there's anything new...a tweet, an instagram, a facebook, a tmz video, I don't care just give me something regarding a new Jazz coach...I'm jonesing here.

Randy Rigby just now on 1280 said he has been so busy looking at Coaches and players that he hasn't been able to scout the NFL draft. So there is your fix addicts.

He said a little more than that too. If you are listening while you are hearing him.
