"Messina detractors say he's far too demanding, far too intense from the first day of training camp and far too desirous of control to succeed in an NBA environment."

That approach likely wouldn't work on a team with established stars, but Utah doesn't have that problem. I don't see any personalities on the team that wouldn't work with a disciplinarian
in charge. And if 1 or 2 decided they didn't like Messina's approach of making players work hard in practice and earn their playing time, then ship them out. This hire HAS to happen. At this point, I'm likely going to be disappointed with anyone else. And I'll be LIVID if the choice is Boylen. Being the #1 asst on Pop's bench doesn't automatically make you a good candidate, especially after a BIG failure in the very state you'd return to. Hire Boylen and Lindsey will have a HUGE PR nightmare on his hands, even with the powderpuff beat reporters and "yes men" who cover the Jazz.

It has to be Messina. And I'm sure if DL has the final say, it IS Messina. It is the move that makes the most sense, and that is pretty much DL's MO.

Shock in Cleveland, Mike Brown is out (again). David Griffin named GM.

Is that 6 teams looking for a head coach?

NYK
LAL
MINNY
GSW
UTAH
Clevland

Also on Mike Brown getting fired for the 3rd time in 4 years...Josh Lewenberg @JLew1050 So theoretically, Mike Brown will only have to work for 28% of his 9-year salary (5 w/ Cavs, 4 w/ Lakers). We should be celebrating this man

(In my best Derek Harper voice), "You go coach in Utah!"
Maybe it's the homer in me talking, but I just can't see how Cleveland could be a more desirable coaching destination than Utah. A more stable franchise, better fans, better city, better quality of life, etc...

Again, I'll say this, if Boylen is able to help this Spurs team with a Championship with the cast that they have, ageing stars, etc, I think he is worth a look.

This. Boylen is Pop's #1 assistant. Indiana was pissed when he left them and they haven't been doing so great.

I agree 100%.

They had a better record this year and it looks like they're headed to the ECF again.

They got lucky against Atlanta and were down 19 last night. A couple of shots for both teams that played them and they would be bounced. Washington should be up 3-1.

And just how much is Boylen's doing?
SA has been at the top for a long, long time. It's not like Boylen walked in to right a ship that had been listing. Pop could probably have me as one of his assistants with little or no drop in team performance.
