I could make this a long, thoughtful thread that nobody would read, but I'll just get straight to the points (in no order)

1. both teams run a highly structured system in which players flourish by strict execution.

2. this year both teams are having, in a sense, a rebuilding year, but nobody is calling it that because they know they are going to win a lot of games. Respect.

3. both teams take on the demeanor of their coach

4. both teams are captained by an unflappable superstar.

5. both teams have traditionally relied on internal development.

6. When you win, say little. When you lose, say less. Both teams' motto.

1. there are a ton of teams in the nfl who win due to strict execution. it's not a one-on-one sport like the nba is oftentimes so by nature, you need execution from everyone to be successful.

2. I'll give you that.

3. For the Jazz, this is a stretch. We're a little bit tougher this year but we're not Sloan-like. For the Pats it may be even more of a stretch as their defense is shaky at best.

4. Deron's flappable. Please don't compare him to Brady who's an absolute stud with three rings.

5. Most of the very successful teams in the NFL have been built internally.

6. I'll give you this one.


I said years ago the Eagles were a better example.
 
I agree with this thread. One million rep points for you. GO PATS! I wish I could bare Brady's children.

i admire what belichick did in the 2007 season. his response to the hypocrisy of the sports media declaring him a cheater for using a widespread tactic was honest and brilliant. just win every game by 30+ points and drop any pretense of sportsmanship. which is great. because professional sports are built on their lack of sportsmanship; winning is literally everything, it's how people get paid and families fed. no other coach came out to defend belichick, instead feigning shock and other insipid wow-how-could-he-do-this dishonesty. so belichick destroyed them all. bring down the system.

the overarching narrative of organizations like espn pressing the virtues of fairness while slanting stories to eke out as much controversy as possible is so goddamn repulsive, not to mention their exaltation of traditional champions at the expense of less decorated organizations, like, oh, the utah jazz. layers and layers of hypocrisy belichick cut through as his undefeated team became one of the most covered teams of all time. the more he transgressed, the more he became the story, the more he exposed espn's deceitful preaching as a crock of ****. dude is a manipulative baller, a coach in the truest sense of the word

the Yankees and the Lakers are notorious for buying talent, for going out and signing away another team's best player. Please provide an instance of the Pats doing this. Please. The Pats take unwanted players like Welker and Woodhead and make them look like Pro-Bowlers.
 
My point is that you're telling us who we should root for and I'd root for any other team in the NFL before I rooted for the Patriots. They're the Yankees/Lakers of the NFL for me.

If you're going to ask me to name players the Pats have gone out and signed, ala the Yankees, I'll ask you to name any NFL team who has signed away another team's best player. The Pats have signed the Adalius Thomas', Correy Dillons, and Rodney Harrisons of the league: excellent players who were too expensive for their former team to retain. Then there is Randy Moss, who quit on the Raiders and suddenly became the best receiver in the game once again. I give them credit for that, but he was a low risk/high reward gamble.

How do the Lakers buy talent like the Yankees do? MLB has no cap. The NBA has CBA rules limiting this from happening. If anything, players come running to LA when asked to do so (i.e. Shaq).

So, what your saying is: I've got nothin'.

EDIT: in all fairness, the Patriots did play the bidding game with Thomas, but all of the players you mentioned wanted to play for the Patriots. They didn't blow them away with $... they don't do that for anybody except Tom Brady with this last contract. Moss benefited because they don't play the circus side shows in NE.
