What's new

The Lakers, Kevin Love and the Utah Jazz

Also, if you go my route, in three years (2017) you have Wiggins, Randle, and two draft picks under contract vs Wiggins and two draft picks.

I guess it all really comes down to whether you feel Burks is going to blow up BIG time. Not be a role player, but probably your second best player.

Kanter = Randle (although over the next 4 years, Kanter costs you at least 36 million vs 12 for Randle).

This means that you feel Burks is better than cap space and Gortat. Over the next 4 years, you would save 24 million (probably over 30) just in Kanter vs Randle. Is Burks THAT good? I'm not sure he is.

Don't see it the same way as you.

Anyways, Gortat is 30 bro. He was never that good, and this season was probably the last of his prime. All downhill from there.

Also, Randle is not Kanter. Randle is like Kanter's little cousin potential wise. Kanter has him beat in all measureables.

Some things that worry me about Kanter:

His per 36 mins the last two years:

2012/2013: 16.9 pts, 10.2 rebs, 1.0 assists
2013/2014: 16.6 pts, 10.1 rebs, 1.3 assists

Did he really get much better?

Advanced stats (his second year/his third year):

PER: 17.6/15.6
TS%: .588/.523
eFG%: .545/.491
FTr: .309/.239
TRB%: 16.5/16.1
BLK%: 2.3/1.5
ORtg: 106/102
OWS: 1.2/1.3
DWS: 1.0/0.9
WS: 2.3/2.2
WS/48: .101/0.050

He didn't really make any big improvements. His minutes went up, but he largely remained the same player.

I'm just not sure Kanter is better than Randle and Gortat and cap space.

Again, I think the real key to all of this, is how good you think Burks will be. I'll look up Burks' numbers.

Burks Bawsed it up this year... Kanter didn't play all summer long and was still feeling it at the beginning of the year !

Burks was seriously the most improved player on last years team. I don't want to see any of the young guys traded with out seeing what they do with a new coach. I wouldn't want to watch as one of them turns into a very solid player once on a different team.

Would you trade one to move up for Wiggins/Parker?

Burks:

Per 36:

14 pts, 5 rebs, 3 assists
18 pts, 4 rebs, 4 assists (Wade was 26, 5 and 6)

PER: 12/16 (28)
TS%: .507/.547 (.577)
eFG%: .463/.487 (.499)
FTr: .332/.449 (.568)
TRB%: 7.5/6.8 (8.7)
BLK%: 2.3/1.5 (1.5)
ORtg: 100/106 (115)
OWS: 0.3/2.6 (10.2)
DWS: 0.7/0.6 (4.2)
WS: 1.0/3.2 (14.4)
WS/48: 0.044/0.070 (.239)

Burks definitely improved. No argument there. And, wow, Wade was amazing. Sheesh.

Is there a way to look up those stats based on half the season? IF Kanter is improving, and your theory is correct, then Kanter would have been a lot worse the first half vs the second half.

That would change my opinion of Kanter overnight.

His per 36 from the year before was calculated mostly against second to third tier competition. His per 36 this year was against first tier competition, and some second tier. The fact that he was able to post similar numbers against better competition after being robbed of an offseason, starting the year a little out of shape and timid, and being jerked around minutes wise (he'd have games where he played 40 mins, and then the next game he'd play 12, which it makes it impossible for his game to have any rhythm), are reasons to celebrate, not despair.

Your takes are sad.

Are you serious? This post sounds like the kids mom in here to defend him. "But...., but......., if my son would have had the ability to play 40 mins a game he would dominate"

Dude, Kanter's ceiling is at tops an average pro. He'll never be an All-Star. Book it son.

You are an idiot. I just point out the facts that you and other members of the "sky is falling club" constantly neglect.

He already is an above average pro. His PER is 15.70, while 15 is the cutoff for above average. You're crazy if you think that he has reached his ceiling at 21, given his history. Absolutely nuts. Do yourself a favor and go read his scouting report over at Draftexpress. The kid is right where he should be given his experience. The Jazz know what they were drafting, and they did it because of his tremendous upside.

Sorry, that was a little harsh I apologize. Crown, you saying "Randle is Kanter's little cousin potential wise", and PKM's instant karma on his dislike for MCW last year and his unreasonable dislike for Randle this year has lead me to lash out....most likely the Crown though (I still think PKM is a great poster).

This is the thing SF, you love Jabari...what about his **** defense? I just can't believe some of the stupidity that comes out of one of the most knowledgeable basketball fanbases....must be BYU fans? Anyways, have a nice night. I still think Randle is the 2/3rd best player in this draft and he'll prove it, he'll be an All-Star, Kanter...nope.

I accept your apology.

Maybe you are confusing me with someone else, but I have made many-a-posts concerning Jabari's atrocious defense, and how I think he is wrong for our team based on pace, etc.

Traditionally, I don't like tweeners unless they are tweeners in a good way like A. Gordon, having size, athleticism, and handles for either the 3 or 4. Randle and Jabari scare me. Randle most, because he is redundant on our team, and a complete waste of a tank.

Also, I am not a BYU fan. I went to Westminster College. Blue and Red don't concern me.
