What's new

The Lakers, Kevin Love and the Utah Jazz

I though Burke was Ty Corbin's choice, and Favors came over in the D-will trade (KOC's doing). I don't think DL has loyalty to any of the current players (which may be a good thing).

I almost put that in there, but at the end of the day, Lindsey drafted Burke and extended Favors. Lindsey chose to have those guys on the team this fall.

That was my logic. I'm ok with limited loyalty with this group. They aren't as good as we think they are. That's why I'd be willing to let half of the "core 4" go.

News today that Boston is making a play for Love. They'll be able to do it with all those picks from The Nets.

Interesting that this Boston writer says Love is not a franchise player though.....

Kevin Love is not a franchise player. Want him but need another player. @CSNEearlyEdition #celticstalk

I'd agree that love by himself will not win rings. They talk about needing another player... in addition to Rondo?

Again, you making assumptions like this. I just can't take anything that you type seriously. Why does liking Jabari make me a BYU fan? Jabari is a freaking talented young basketball player, so I would definitely be ecstatic if we got him on the team. I've already wasted enough time replying to you.

Jabari plays defense like a bag of rocks, just like your boy Jimmer, that defensive liability is something I don't want on this team.

Actually it isn't simple, it is just your opinion. No one knows what Randle will be in the NBA, it is purely speculation at this point. Same with Kanter, the difference is that at least Kanter has shown he can play in the NBA. What his ceiling is yet to be determine. Many anti-Kanter people expected Kanter to walk in and just be a stud because he was drafted #3. Kid has barely been playing basketball the last 4 years. His injury didn't help and he has several ways he can improve. The kid is freak'n 21 years old.

Plenty of players improve at their games well into there late twenties and early thirties if they want to do so. Kanter might not be an all-star because he is in the West and until the Jazz start contending he has little shot of doing so but if AK, Memo can make it so can Kanter. The only thing holding him back is his maturity and if he is willing to put the effort into it. However, I highly doubt that anyone can guarantee that Randle is a can't miss prospect considering he hasn't played one game in the NBA. No one knows at this point. Randle may be better and he may be worse but the difference mostly will be so small that arguing about it is nonsense.

As part of the trade, it isn't just Kanter that I have a problem with. Giving up Burks and the 23rd pick for an inferior player Budinger is just plain dumb.

Did I ever suggest that? My whole response to this thread was the stupid statement by SF that "Randel's potential was Kanter's little cousin ability wise" That's one of the stupidest, most unintelligible takes i've ever seen on this board. I felt compelled to reply.

May I suggest going back to lurking? *in a condescending, flight attendant-esque voice*

I'll do what I like. "In a low, Eastwood, I really don't give two ****s what Bodhi thinks kinda voice"

How many playoff games has Love won?

I'm not sure if this particular writer believes in rondo or not, but I get the feeling the celtics will trade him for more assets as soon as they can.

If the C's and timberpups trade Love for Rondo and a bunch of picks, I think that leaves the C's enough room to sign Gordy Hayward to a max deal.

I wish it were possible to get Josh Smith and Raggin' Rondo on the same team. The trouble with every team in the league trying to play Spurs style money ball is that nothing crazy like this happens anymore.

... And you responded with such intelligence.

You are clearly out of your element when it comes to scouting talent, or even remembering who is who on this board. Your "intelligent" comeback was calling me a BYU loving, mormon, who blindly follows Jabari. None of which are true. Asshat.

Please, i'm sorry I don't sit around daily and post, I'll take a little more time out of my day to make sure I come by.

As far as talent, as I recall last year, I was one of the FEW (maybe 3-4 people) who liked MCW and said he'd be a solid pro because of his length and his defensive ability. Don't dismiss me when it comes to scouting talent, you clearly have no room to talk.

Boston wants Love and Rondo, and is praying that LeBron loses to the Pacers.

Rondo
LeBron
Love

That team will win titles.

That's funny, because I was one of the few as well, and have already proved this by pulling up the posts via the search function. I honestly don't remember your support for him, but whatever. Having said that, MCW still has a LONG way to go.
You are still a supreme douche.

I never said you did. However the discussion was about the trade and not just your all knowing knowledge of the future. Obviously, you haven't been around that long if you think that particular comment was the "stupidest, most unintellegible" takes you've ever seen. However, you are starting to compete for the title with your insane opinion that you no without a doubt what the future holds. If you truly had that ability then you shouldn't be wasting your time on this board, you should be in Vegas betting on your unquestionable knowledge of the future.

True. I think extending Favors shows his loyalty and belief in Derrick. And everyone knew Gobert was a project. If anything, Rudy played better than expected.
I wouldn't necessarily say he has loyalty to Trey because he drafted him...whether or not it was his choice or Ty's. Likely Burke and MCW were rated close enough that he gave Corbin the final call and thus said Trey was "Ty's pick." But DL wouldn't hesitate for a second to make an upgrade at any position if the opportunity arose.

A GM's job is to make a winning team, so I don't really think DL has anybody "safe".

This.

but having said that, DL has said numerous times how he, the FO, and scouting staff are all really high on the compatibility of the core 5. I doubt he is going to give up on it for anything less than a deal to acquire franchise talent. Vets the caliber of Gortat and Buddinger can be had in FA.

My plan has us signing Gortat via FA. Randle is considers by many to have franchise talent.

Just sayin...
