What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

My quick spit-balling at the % chances each are available at #5;

Wiggins - 0%
Parker - 1%
embodied - 1%
Exum - 40%

I actually haven't seen Exum shoot the three a whole lot. I wonder if he really cant shoot it well in workouts ORL might consider trading down for Smart instead?

I don't know.. but guys I trust (mainly Pacers scout) say he's between a Curry (fluid, no rush) and Wall (total fast and too quick).

wtf does that mean??????????? No idear.

I see Wall but I don't really see Curry whose first option is a 3, 2nd option a step back midrange and countermove is going to the basket and passing...

Cavs should take Wiggins and not think twice.

If I'm the Bucks I'm a bit nervous about taking Embiid at #2. He hasn't played publicly in months and isn't sharing his medical report so easily. If there are any questions, I could see the Bucks going with Parker. It's new ownership who probably doesn't want to blow a #2 pick when Parker and other talent are on the board. Embiid and Parker could be close enough with Parker being the safer pick.

Wiggins and Parker are off the board.

Sixers then have to decide if they want Embiid. Probably they take him, but if Vonleh is a versatile stretch-4 he could look attractive next to Noel. The Sixers also have to decide if Noel is a PF or a C. Exum is a lot like MCW, and they could go with it, but neither is a knock-down shooter at this stage. I think the Sixers wanted Wiggins or Parker (because they already have MCW and Noel), and Dr. J was pissed they didn't get into the top 2. If the Sixers are squeamish about Embiid, I could see them dangling this pick to Orl or the Jazz.

If the Sixers think Embiid is risky and take Exum, then Orlando has to ask if they want Embiid. If not, they might flip picks with the Jazz to draft Marcus Smart and pick up another asset. You look at how far Nerlens Noel slipped last year, and Embiid could potentially be available to us. Orlando could think Embiid is risky when they already have Vucevic.

I don't get where y'all get the EMbiid won't share his X Ray selfies and stuff. Bucks Assistant GM told DX that their talks with agents have been productive. Why wouldn't they consider Embiid?

That's overblown. It was a strategy to stay away from the combine because he couldn't win there and what I have read recently is that he'll do 1v0 workouts for teams, interviews, medical records and be 100% ready later this summer.

Also both the Bucks and Philly have 2+ more high lottery seasons ahead. So they'll go BPA and if they are very close they'll prolly go 1, 3 or 4 as position because next year is loaded with 5s. I believe Noel can play both big positions long term and Sanders will get moved eventually. Also Henson can play both as a 6th man Taj Gibson role.

Orlando has a similar team like the Jazz. A lot of complimentary players, a lot of talent. No go-to guy and a couple positional needs. They'll pick the best guy they'll feel will give them a lot of offense.

Hey anything could happen. I'm hoping we pick up Exum...

Me too. He'd create an interesting dynamic. As would Embiid.

except the fact that Vonleh's offensive game is on another stratosphere.

Could you say the same about favors defense?

I lied. It was Dennis Lindsay.

The quote:

"There's plenty of talent of there, from an upside standpoint, where it may be a little riskier to speculate, an IPO stock if you will, in this case...there is ready made, more polished players that may be a solid double to compliment our group. And I think because there is both alternatives there, the gunslingers may want to move into five there, and we will see what they will give us...so I think we will have a ton of conversations, and a high bar on how we value that pick."

I like that he said that.

If randle gordon smart and vonleh are all that closely ranked then might as well move back to 8 or 9.

You still get one of those guys anyway and get some other stuff in the trade too

And if Jabari really wants to play in Utah, he will show up for workouts weighing 269 pounds, and tell DL that it was his plan all along, and he has tape worms on standby for as soon as his last workout is over. Then we draft him at 5 because Hotkkk got to all the teams and educated them about fat tongans.

Awesomeness

Seeing Lindsey on the news last night, it looks like he sincerely hates the 5 spot. Jazz will trade up or down - I don't see them picking at 5.

supporting cast

How can the 'greatest player ever' be so helpless without all the help?

I hate the Lebron love almost as much as I hate the cavilers.

Which NBA great has been successful without a strong supporting cast? Bird, Magic, Kobe, M? No, no, no, no....

There has been no great player who has won a title without a very good supporting cast. The team that came the closest was the 1981 Houston Rockets with an extremely weak supporting cast around Moses Malone of Mike Dunleavy, Calvin Murphy, Allen Leavell, Robert Reid, Rudy Tomjanovich, and Billy Paultz. They lost to the Celtics 4-2 in the finals.

I consider the gap between Vonleh's and Derrick's defense smaller than the gap between their offensive games, when they were both Vonleh's age.

I agree

Troof. MJ is awesome but I can't believe how much people overlook how awesome his title teams were. Pippen (arguably best sf ever prelebron) Horace Grant, Rodman (one of the best rebounders ever) john salley, good shooters, etc.

I would put lebrons cavs team along with that 81 rockets team

The Kings put the No. 8 pick in the draft on the trade block immediately after the lottery Tuesday night, league sources told NBA.com, clearly looking to add at least one impact veteran in an attempt to push into the playoff conversation next season rather than wait for another rookie prospect to develop.

It was immediately unclear if the Kings have a specific target. But Dennis Schroder, the German point guard firmly behind Jeff Teague on the Hawks depth chart, could come up. Had McLemore been gone at No. 7, Sacramento would have looked hard at Schroder or at trading back.

Kanter and Burke for Smart.
