Bill Simmons: Prediction No. 1: Utah tries like hell to trade up for Jabari Parker.

Not a good comparison.

Marvin was a pure potential pick. It didn't have much to do with what he did on the court. He didn't even start for his own team. Jabari is far better than Marvin was.

Lol. Marvin shot 51% FGs (Jabari 47%), Marvin 43% 3pt (Jabari 36%), Marvin 85% FTs (Jabari 75% FTs). Jabari scored more points and got more rebounds because he played 31 mpg to Marvin's 22 mpg. But make no mistake, those shooting numbers for a 6'8" athletic forward were lights out - he did it in the ACC - he produced - to call him a pure potential pick is silly if not just completely ignorant.

Lol Williams played 22 minutes per game, how can you say he was not picked on potential?

Cool.

Per 48 mins Gobert would average like 8 blocks.

In other words, worthless stats.

Look at what Burks actually has done. If you could get Jabari for burks, you take it. No other GM would be stupid enough to not.

Who's saying they wouldn't trade Burks for Jabari? Its Burks plus #5 plus another picks that people don't want to do. Thats a hell of a lot more then just burks.

Big difference between Burks projected 36 stats having played 28 mpg and Gobert having played 9 minutes. Try to keep up there, Thriller.

Also, I posted Burks per 36, not 48. Gobert's per 36 blks are at 3.4 FWIW.

Lindsey is building a defense first team. I don't see him trading a farm for a player who is a defensive liability of Boozerisque scale. You don't want to put a new coach in a position where he must choose between benching his "star" and #1 option and giving unequal treatment to his players.
I don't see Jabari happening unless he falls to 4th.

I'll just say this...

I think in an effort to make ourselves feel better for not moving up... And sadly, religion plays into this too... Many have unfairly criticized Jabari Parker.

The truth is, he's one of the best prospects to come out in years. Awwwww schucks. He's not lebron on defense. That doesn't mean he can't be a HOF player. Paul Pierce was never recognized as a great defender. He learned how to play smart and use his body. The celtics then compensated with guys like KG, Sheed, Jermaine, Perk, etc and had many good years with Paul. Ray Allen? Never known as much of a defender. Yet, how many jazz fans would have passed on him? Both have led their teams to titles. Both have been fantastic for over a decade. That's Jabari Parker.

If we can get Jabari using any trade possible, you do it. He will give us at least a decade of scoring 20+. We can compensate for our franchise player's shortcomings with role players. As it stands right now, all we have are role players. How can we get a our franchise player? Via the draft. If we can get our franchise player by trading a few role players, you do it.

No other GM would pass up Jabari. He and Wiggins will be superstars for the next decade or two. I would give up any combo on our team or draft picks to get me Wiggins or Jabari.

All that matters is what he actually did.

I don't give a damn what your 12, 24, 36, or 48 mins stats say. That's the point. They literally mean zero.

Is ANYONE on this team going to be anything more than a solid starter?

With kanter, burks, and trey no one really knows...... even with favors we dont know for sure. (He is what, 22 or 23 years old)

All these guys have only played under one coach. (Except favors got half a year with sloan)
A guy by the name of ty "the turd" corbin.

None of know how good randle, parker, exum, gordon, vonleh, or smart are gonna be either.

Lots of question marks.

Hey all you Fat Jabari Conspiracy Nuts. Check this out from Jonathan Givony of Draft Express...

Yes. Definitely not out of shape. RT @nsanba: Jabari Parker seemed to have lost some weight in the pics. Did it seems that way to you?

Sweet!

There isn't a GM out there (other than the team we are trading for) who wouldn't do that deal.

Hell, throw in kanter, Burke, or Hayward too.

If you can get Parker for Burks, 5, and 23? You do it. You're talking about 1 of the best prospects to come out since 2003. He's a guaranteed 20+ pt scorer. He's a franchise player. We have enough extremely replaceable role players. We have zero franchise players.

If folks don't see Parker for Burks, 5, 23, and/or some future pick as a steal for us, then we will need to agree to disagree. very few GMs would pass up on the opportunity to draft such an incredible prospect. No use arguing with stupid.

Man I'm becoming one wishy washy **** lately. That's pretty much my opinion on the 5th pick of the draft as well. I'm fine with all four guys, though I have an order of preference.

Me too.

That is not all that matters. He's being compared with guys who played mid-30s minutes, yet he played 28 per game. It's the only way for a fair comparison when Burks coach wouldn't play him as much as the other guys.

Either way, if we play your game, he went for 14, 3 and 3 on 46% - that is very good for a 22 in his first real year. IOW, what he really did was very good.

As much as the Jazz may try to trade for Jabari, I don't think there's much chance they're successful.

Jabari is probably the safest pick among the top 3 players. The GM who passes on Jabari to take Vonleh or Exum, with or without Burks, is putting himself in the crosshairs. Why take that risk if you're that GM, even if you're not 100% thrilled with Parker?

I don't think any GM, based on what we know today, wants to be the GM who passed on Jabari Parker and took Vonleh or Exum instead.

This.

I'm not wasting any energy hoping for Jabari.

Nobody in this draft is worth trading Burks or Kanter and the 5th pick to move up. All of these players have major holes. Burks is developing into a legit starter. And Kanter per 36 would of averaged 16 and 10 coming off his shoulder injury. When he comes into camp in great shape again and he gets to play with Favors his numbers will go up.

I love Jabari Parker and I think he can play SF if he loses 20-25 pounds. He seems liked a hard worker and he could do it. But I would only trade 5th, 23rd and another 1st round pick to move up. Future GS or a protected 1st round in the coming years. I wish we could include Hayward but we can't because the NBA is dumb and the draft is before free agency. NFL has it right.

It's ASSUMED the Jazz want Parker. But do they?

Everyone links Parker to the Jazz because he's a Mormon, just like everyone thought Utah wanted Fredette and every white player gets projected to the Jazz.

I agree. It's only the white loving karma. I think with DL it's more than over.
