Bill Simmons: Prediction No. 1: Utah tries like hell to trade up for Jabari Parker.

#5 + #23 should be enough to move up 2 spots to get Parker. It would be similar to the Burke's deal. Jazz gave up 14+21 for 9, meaning an average 17 pick to move up 5 picks. This year they could do an average 14 pick to move up 2 spots.

Smokin dem jeffries doe.

Lol. Marvin shot 51% FGs (Jabari 47%), Marvin 43% 3pt (Jabari 36%), Marvin 85% FTs (Jabari 75% FTs). Jabari scored more points and got more rebounds because he played 31 mpg to Marvin's 22 mpg. But make no mistake, those shooting numbers for a 6'8" athletic forward were lights out - he did it in the ACC - he produced - to call him a pure potential pick is silly if not just completely ignorant.

I have to believe at this point that you are trolling.

Just, wow.

This post is more about the entirety of your work, not just the quoted post.

That is not all that matters. He's being compared with guys who played mid-30s minutes, yet he played 28 per game. It's the only way for a fair comparison when Burks coach wouldn't play him as much as the other guys.

Either way, if we play your game, he went for 14, 3 and 3 on 46% - that is very good for a 22 in his first real year. IOW, what he really did was very good.

First of all, Lolz all around.

Second of all, his first real year? Uhhhh ok?

Totally loving the, "NO FREAKIN WAY GUYS WOULD I TRADE A BUNCH OF NICE SPARE PARTS FOR A PLAYER THAT WOULD GO #1 IN 90% OF ANY GIVEN DRAFT NO STUPID DUMB DUMB DUMB".

Did any of you even pay attention to the season that just happened?

This tbh

I mean seriously, how could this guy bust right? Those one handed throw down's make Parker''s look pedestrian. That sexy 56% three point shot is sure to translate right? Look at him take it coast to coast, who could stop that in the NBA?

anyone comparing Parker to Williams is a ....

I think Parker is going to be a fine player but I am quite positive he is going to be a MAJOR defensive liability.

It's okay though....Harden does quite well and he doesn't even bother player defense.

I just think Parker doesn't have the lateral quickness to really defend well...it's not an effort problem.

He sure will score in bunches though.

dont forget....parker had to be subbed out vs mercer b/c yes...his defense is just that BAD.

and that is the college level.......Now imagine NBA players....we're talking elite athletes here.

No way would I trade Ronnie Brewer, CJ Miles, Morris Almond and a pick that could become Eric Maynor for Kevin Durant. He's very skinny and will get pushed around in the NBA. On the other hand Brewer and Miles haven't even scratched the surface of their potential. Brewer is a potential DPOTY and Miles could be the same go-to guy Durant could be. He's good, but I wouldn't risk our entire future for him.

Well, time will tell. No need to declare people as clowns and all.

I like Parker, I think that Simmons's offer would be good for many teams but I find it too much for the Jazz for a player with big question marks on the defensive side of his game. I don't believe he'll be anything close to a Lebron, Durant or Kobe level.

I can live with the defensive liability issue. I think you can add guys around him and a good coach to deal with that. he brings, apparently (I don't really follow this stuff) is the ability to score big time. Every top contender has those guys, and the Jazz currently don't.

We don't need an unathletic offensive power-house. We need to be defensive-minded with lots of athleticism to make a good playoff run. We could have had a lineup of:

Shröder
Brewer
Aaron Gordon
Biyombo
Saer Sene

With Jan Vesely coming off the bench as the 6th man.

It's interesting that some folks here keep criticizing Parker's defense yet for some reason forget about The matador defense of Kanter and Burks. So if we want to build a defensive minded team then Burks and Kanter have no future with this team, right? So why not trade them for a guy who's going to be a star for years to come?

What was our record with Kanter starting for us last year?

There's even a YouTube video out on Kanter. A compilation of his pathetic defense. Terrible P&R defense and so slow with his feet. Not to mention brain farts. At 5:07 boler describes it perfectly: " Aldridge left alone. Kanter too late." Enjoy:

I watched about 3 minutes of the video. Most of his defense was solid. It was good offense. Yes, he had a few lapses, but overall it was not matador defense. He at least tries for the entire possession. Now Boozer had true matador D.

It is mostly bad. I guess you're seeing what you want to see.

I thought his D was pretty solid in that video. Its easy to get results oriented because his opponent made some difficult shots but besides the Blake Dunk he stayed in front of his man and forced some below average players to take 10-14 FT fade away shots.

Lol, what kind of argument is that?

Kanter is not a good defender(yet, at least).

There you go, I mentioned it. If there is any other thing I forgot to mention, give me a heads up.

The Jazz team defense ranking last speaks volumes about the individual's defensive abilities.

If Al Jefferson can anchor a top defense, I'll take my chances with Parker.
