Apples to oranges. Those teams didn't want to pay up or knew that their superstar was leaving after that season.

According to Hoopshype, Westbrook isn't even a free agent until after the 2017-2018 season. Do you have inside info that he will bolt after that season? Even if he did, the Thunder still can get a few good years out of him. Do you have inside info that indicates that Westbrook doesn't like playing in OKC and will demand a trade in the coming months?

Westbrook carries the ball at least 3 times per game and never gets called.

Duncan got hacked twice on dunk/layup attempts and didn't get the call. That "block" KD had? Ummm yeah, all arm very little if any ball. Fisher was hacking every time down the court. He was whistled a few times while holding up Diaw and Duncan down low. He wasn't when he was out on the perimeter hacking and holding away.

Then the goal tend.

Combine that with the Clippers debacle? Ask Doc Rivers what he thought of the refs...

Ummmm yeah, okc got away with murder.

Yours is the primary answer, but while those guys are/were great, there are people out there saying (and I think SAS might agree) that Westbrook is as good or better than Durant. Durant was the MVP and is the consensus 2nd best player in the league. Westbrook was as good if not better than the MVP/second best player in the league when it mattered. As good as Harden, CP3, Melo are, RW might be on another level. But yeah, ultimately those trades were made because those guys weren't going to re-sign.

My question is whether a team can win a title with two #1s, two alpha dogs. I tend to think they can, but who knows.

Deron was under contract for 1 more year and then had a player option. Had we waited 1 more year his trade value would have sunk since it would have been clearer that he wasn't going to stay and interested parties would merely wait for his free agency than actually give up something.

Regarding Deron's free agency and chances of resigning with the Jazz, Greg Miller even said, "I never saw any indication he would."

Teams don't trade away franchise players unless they know they won't resign with them/the team is entering a rebuild mode. If you can provide examples proving otherwise, go ahead. Otherwise, I'll just assume you're arguing just for the same of arguing without any actual data to support your argument.

The refs missed some big ones which favored okc.

I get that CY wasn't exactly claiming that the refs gave it away. However, you'll read a lot of it online. Especially on twitter. Reading Cy's post only reminded me to dispel any notion that the refs somehow screwed over okc.

And the quote posted in my previous post sort of refutes your assertion that the Jazz didn't know he wouldn't resign.

....3 times a game? How about 3 times a possession!!! Then on drives to the basket, it was Dwayne Wade all over again......blow on him and he get's two foul shots! You can't tell me he gets fouled EVERY TIME he drives to the basket?!! Heck, he's moving so fast it's impossible to foul him, even if they tried!!! I'm just concerned that the ref's are going to do the same thing with Wade and Lebron in this series! And there's NO WAY that little "turtle head" ref should be allowed to do any of these games in the finals! He's already been noted and cited about how he feels about Duncan!

Of course, the Spurs made it tougher than it had to be....blowing more bunny shots in the 4th quarter than all season long! The Spurs are deep, long, athletic and smart. The Heat are toast!

deep? sure. spurs have many good contributing players.
athletic? spurs are not considered a great athletic team. i'll give them a 'good' grade simply because manu still got it, and kawhi is a very good athlete.

if you just talk about the size, celtics were clearly a bigger team. duncan is long, but in reality he is closer to 6ft 10 than 6ft 11. splitter was measured at 6ft 10 1/4.

both bill walton and duncan are listed at 6ft 11. but obviously you know who's taller.



basically celtics had 2 7fters. walton gave them great 20 min as a backup. and bird & mchale were 6ft 9 -6ft 10 guys with tremendous skills.
