Gordon Hayward or Chandler Parsons?

So, Houston is not going to pick up the team option for Chandler Parsons contract making him a restricted free agent.

Both players could be getting offers in the $12-13 million range.

If we were able to sign and keep one of these two players, which would you prefer?

Like Hayward a lot. Would chose Parsons if I were establishing a team from the scratch. Because he has better mental/characteristic traits like confidence and consistency.

But I'd like to stick with Hayward for the right price and give him the chance that Parsons had all along. A clear role on the team that is not being the first option, heavy play making responsibility or the leadership.

Not a Jazz fan so this isn't a rhetorical question.

Wasn't this Gordon's role last year before Jefferson and Millsap were traded?
 
Why do I get the feeling that this is exactly the type of situation that DL has been waiting for (cap space wise) to make his mark?
 
Also, I just want it to be known that I'd love to see the Rockets go from a team that is rising up in the standings to a lotto team again.

Under the table type of a deal I suppose.

I did hear another theory that the Rockets want him in the open market while he is restricted so that they can tie him up. If Parsons goes into the next offseason then he will be an unrestricted FA.
 
Nevermind. I see why. He would be unrestricted next year but they can match this year. Weird. I never heard of that.
 
I choose hayward.

I think he is more athletic, more versatile, and i hate parsons no-arch-flat-shot.

Kinda it was yeah, but he didn't have much problems till that year, even that year as well. I think he did fairly well. The role of him was not entirely the way I described though in the years with Devin Harris and Mo Williams as the main PGs. Because I don't like too much point forward responsibility for him which he had to have starting with his sophomore year that we downgraded to DH from DW at the PG position.

I like Hayward's production for the last years too, in the first place. It wasn't that horrific at all like one would think reading the reactions on this board. But the improper use of him and the heavy duties indeed made him less effective, detrimental even sometimes. His FG% dropped significantly. He couldn't show progress on the mental side of the game, couldn't shake off the inconsistency and certainly couldn't improve his self confidence as he failed at the leadership.

Still, it was a necessary experiment in my book. We had to see whether if Hayward could be a first/second option on a young team and lead them, the odds that he could weren't high and it didn't happen. But all this is in hindsight. Now the thing to do is setting the things for him in a more appropriate way.

He is so underrated in this forum but I really like him as an all around versatile very valuable wing in this league. Plus this season he'll still be only 24 years old! With tons of experience as well.
 
Oh Parsons, easily. Is there really any question?

But I doubt Houston lets Parsons go. They'll match unless the deal he signs is just outrageous.

Oh no no no no no no no no NNNNNOOOOOO!!!!

They are PERFECT where they are. Walk around about how awesome their team is and how they have all these stars and then BAM! Chewed up and spit out in the first round like the trash they are. LOVE IT!!! Their pain brings me joy and that may make me less of a person but I am OK with that.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving team and fanbase. (Excluding the Lakers)

I'd take Parsons as well. You can rationalize Gordon in any way you want but my beef with him is mental. He's a wimp. Simple as that.

I won't even bother looking this up but can the numbers savy guys tell me how Houston (it's being rumored) can be trying to position themselves for a 3rd max guy (Love, Melo etc....again, this is the talk) and give Parsons 12/13mil (....rumored..)? They have Howard, Harden, Asik and Lin on big deals (I know Asik and Lin were mostly front loaded, but still), then add in a 17-20m guy and Parsons at 12/13. Huh? How can that math add up from a cap standpoint?
 
i know hayward only shot .413%, but that's because he plays for jazz not rockets. the difference between these 2 aren't much. but i like parsons because he has more upside, couple inches taller, and attacks the rim better.
