So play GM for a moment.
What would it take to get #4 without giving up #5?
What is the most you're willing to give up for #4 without giving up #5?

Looking at our roster, only Favors would fit the bill.

But.... what that article said is Exum seems to have a higher ceiling or potential than Jabari... Mormonism aside, do we go for a line drive with Jabari, or do we go with a home run with Exum?????
Exum over Jabari is like Milicic over Carmelo or Wade. Whoever wrote that article is sniffing glue.
I think the decision of Exum vs Jabari is more akin to Wade vs Camelo...
I am tempting to bet anything that Exum will never be at Carmelo or Wade's level. ( All-star)
It's times like these I am comfortable letting guys like Walt Perrin decide who will eventually turn out a better player/prospect.
If he was the one deciding about Hayward vs George, Kanter vs Valanciunas or Burks vs Leonard then I would not trust him whatsoever.
Had Exum played in NCAA he would not be in lottery discussion at all. Now scouts are raving about his games vs inferior competition. 11 min - that's all it took team USA lead by Gordon and M. Smart in U19 game to expose him and send him to the bench for good. Dude is crazy overrated.
So besides him playing against inferior talent, what do you have against him?

Guy's Australian. You cannot trust them Aussies.

High volume poor shooting chucker, poor performance in the medal games, limited explosiveness, turnover prone.
I'm actually not sure what he's good at that translates into in game production. Even against HS kids, his shooting, points, assist, rebound and steal numbers were less than stellar.
In short, the answer to orangello's question is that he wasnt great playing against that inferior talent. If you're playing inferior talent, at least be dominant.

AKMVP is ahead of the crowd on this one. Exum isn't considered top-tier by Lindsey. He's in the next group down. I wouldn't be surprised to see him slip a few spots. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Vonleh go #4 and then Utah pass on Exum to take Gordon or Smart. Of course, if he IS available at #5 and Lindsey drafts him, I'll hope Exum brings the thunder from down under!
Well people like his size and length and quick first step. Passing is above average as well.
And how did those things translate to actual in game production at a high level against HS players? Answer, they didn't.

Ummm. . . I'm pretty sure that AKMVP is advocating that the Jazz NOT take Dante Exum. I'm hoping that somebody else buys into the hype, because I'm just not that high on him. I'd be just fine with getting Vonleh or Gordon, but I'd really hope that they trade up for Parker.
