So my best friend and I are doing a JazzNerd type road trip. We are going to go to both the Boston Game and the 76ers Game in Jan. I have my flights all worked out. What I was wondering is if anyone has any recomendations for Hotels close to the Boston Guarden? What about hotels near the Oracle Arena? Anyone know where to get good tickets!

Also what to do Thursday night in Boston as well as Fridaty after the game?

Then Saturday Night in Phili after the game?

Is there anything we just can't miss? Things we really need to do while in the area? I have never been to either city so any recomendation are much appriciated.
 
Get the cheapest crap-hole you can find. Spend your money elsewhere on fun things. A bed is a bed, no matter how flashy the room is.

That was true before the resurgence of bedbugs in America. Now, you might want to use a little more caution.

Right... and there are HIV covered needles under gas pumps, vans full of rapists hiding in parking lots, and Tink has a girlfriend.
 
I'd find a hostel. My buddy and just spent 2 nights in the heart of NYC for only $30 a night. Lots of hot European girls, too.
 
Look for hotels outside downtown Boston. Look in sommerville, Braintree, Cambridge or Brighton. It's easy to get around on the subway.

I'll be at both games too. In Philly go get a cheesesteak. Gino's or Pat's, they're right next to each other. I never had Pat's so I think I'm going to stop there after the game if I don't get lost. I've been lost going to and in Philly so many damn times (partly because I try to avoid the slow moving expressway). If you go to Gino's they'll give you a free pen. Seriously. That's the place that made news a few years ago for not serving people who couldn't order in english.

In the daytime you can get a car and drive around and see all of the slums. Two cars parked on one side of the steet next to each other and behind, then drive on the main roads and there are cars parked in the middle of the street. I've never see that anywhere else. The people with lawns have trash all over them. Some parts are really screwed up. But there's a KFC on every corner if that's your thing.

I can't help you with hotels, I'm not staying overnight. Was only in Boston once for the game last season, not familiar with it.
 
Whenever we travel we make a place match our bid on Priceline. The 3 times we've done it we've stayed in 4 to 5 star hotels for literally less than half the price of the normal cost. It's wise for hotels to fill those rooms because half is better than nothing. When we booked on the more popular travel sites, we got worse hotels for about the same price.

Only downside is you usually stay somewhere that is a little out of the way, so some driving time will need to be done.
 
I will definately try the priceline thing. Sloanfeld what kind of tickets do you have to the games? We haven't purchased ours yet but we are at a min going to be lower bowl. What do you guys suggest for day time activities? We haven't decided if we need a car or not yet. My friend say we can make do with subways/taxis/buses. (he is from the eastcoast) Where I can't hardly imagine not having a car.

I don't have tickets yet but I will soon. I only have the Jazz/Wizards tickets now. I'm not picky with where I sit but lower bowl is the best in Phlly. Upper is very good at MSG though. I am not familiar with Philly public transportation but Boston has subways or trains if you google it. There are a bunch of traffic lights in the Philly and you will probably get lost. Going to the game least season there was a fire engine with its sirens on and traffic was bumper to bumper, it was such a cluster**** the way everyone had to maneuver to let the firetruck go. I wouldn't rent a car unless you have to. Do research on public transportation.
 
Sloanfeld if you want to sit with 2 30 year old Jazz Fanz you are more then welcome just let me know so we can the tickets. Anyone else that wants to come is also welcome.

I'll get my own ticket but Philly is half empty anyway so I can move around if I want to. I might go with someone else if I can't get a single ticket though.
 
Just let me know either way is fine. I was thinking I should just purchase courtside tickets so I can be cooler then kicky anyway.
