What's new

Chad Ford has us taking Exum at #5.

With Harris and Nicholson in Orlando if they take Vonleh it'd really speak volumes of what they think of him.

Kyle O'Quinn was better than Nicholson this year too, picking up his player option for 950k is a no-brainer.

Yup. O'Quinn, Nicholson (who is certainly a competent backup-big IMO), and Tobias are all deserving of minutes, and pretty solid assets to a team. The only way I think that Orlando doesn't draft a PG/SG is if they decide to fulfill that roster need via Free Agency, and they simply flip the bird and draft whom they like most.

Exum or Smart to Orlando makes an awful lot of sense though.

My Big Board looks like this right now:
1- Embiid (if Healthy)
2- Parker
3- Wiggins
4- Vonleh
5- Exum
6- Smart
7- Gordon
8-Randle

Gordon falls out of top 10 if he cannot play the 3 position. Or a team doesn't think he can. I don't think he makes it in the league as a 4.
But as a 3 he could be really good. an AK or Lamar Odom type player.

Randle I think will give you 14 and 9 on any team with the right minutes. But his ceiling sucks and I don't think he can help you protect the paint. And his post game is overrated. More of a face up player who tries to spin and throw up wild shots. Won't work in the NBA.

I think it makes a lot of sense for ORL to snag Vonleh, or Parker if Exum were to go to Philly who is looking for fast and athletic (assuming Wiggins & Embiiid are gone). They have the 12th pick, and that will still have some really good pg's to choose from in Ennis or Lavine, or they could reach for someone like Payton, Napier, or Kyle Anderson (if they saw him as capable in NBA).

I like Exum a lot, but feel more comfortable w/ A. Gordon. We need more instinctual passing, especially on the wing (the two Gordon's would be great at wing creating together). If Snyder can get Trey to run, and look for others more (which he excels at when he tries), then I may have to reconsider him as our PG, because of his PnR skills (Snyder says we'll run more than Spurs, which is like 65+ sets a game according to Locke), and the extra court spacing it sounds like we'll have should really help him when getting to the rim.

I saw Chris Sheridan released a new version of his mock where Marcus Smart fell to #8.

I like this time of year, these guys have all mocked the draft so many times that in order to keep getting hits and clicks they start mocking wild scenarios. Just before the draft they will mostly return to safer mocks so that they won't be ridiculed after the draft. Ironically this is the same process that's some teams go through. I'm looking at you Sacramento, Milawukee and Minnesota.

How? Exum would be amazing. I know you don't like him, but still.

Because I trust that Lindsey and Snyder are smarter when it comes to drafting than KOC/Corbin. Exum would be a disaster for Jazz. We have Trey Burke as our PG of the future, we need to avoid overrated Exum like plaque. He is going to be next Tzikitishvili/Bargnani/Milicic type bust.

If the Jazz draft Smart or Exum, they *might* be able to trade Trey (w/ or w/o #23) for Sacto's #8 pick. Sacramento is looking for a point guard, and they reportedly like Dennis Schroeder and Brandon Knight.

Jazz could get Aaron Gordon or McBuckets at #8.

And this is also the time of year when I wish there was some sort of mock draft archive/database that we could go back to and see who we should believe has insight/contacts or not.

There is not much info on Exum. So whoever is telling him not to work out for teams beyond the 4th pick is stupid. It could make him drop big time if the Magic don't take him.
