What's new

Chad Ford has us taking Exum at #5.

What amuses me the most about this draft is that it is supposedly one of the best drafts in ages, yet damn near every player out there has a ton of critics. It's odd.

Hype. And it comes on the heels of maybe the worst draft ever. So yeah, every beat writer and draftnik was going to pimp this draft from Day 1. And few have acknowledged it's not as strong as it was proclaimed. You had players underwhelm in college and some were so weak they decided to stay in school.

Kid is dead to me. Haha I'm joking but I am happy with Gordon at this point.

"What should I take away from Exum only scheduling workouts with the Bucks, Sixers, and Magic? Is that an indication that he and his agent are confident that he won't fall past the Magic?

I think the Bucks, Sixers and Magic all really like Exum and there's a chance he lands with each team. The Magic really need a point guard and have liked Exum all year, so that's probably his floor. However, they also like Marcus Smart and increasingly Noah Vonleh. Which means it's also possible Exum slides. The reason he hasn't scheduled other workouts, I think he's confident Boston or LA would for sure take him. If he's going to slide those are two great situations for him. As for Utah, they may take him too, though I think that's a team that Exum is less excited to join."

Harrison twins flopping was a surprise to me. They did okay, but wasn't Andrew talking about Jordan before the season?

With the Jazz already having a young point guard with significant potential and Exum seeing himself as a point guard rather than combo or 2 guard this would make sense. I still would love to have him on the Jazz in a 3 man rotation with Burke and Burks though.

How do you know he's lightning quick?

How do you know of his potential?

A draftx clip showed it?

Has anyone here seen actual game footage of Exum and not just highlight clips?

If he truly is the guy with the highest potential then go for it. I haven't seen him play really. In all the clips I've seen it looks like he's playing against a bunch of crappy DIV III players.

Boom Bitches would look like an athletic Serge Ibaka like freak against the stuffs Exum is playing against. The weak *** layups I've seen Exum put up would be swatted against 90 percent of the NBA.

Gordon and Smart? I have no question about their athleticism.

I saw few full games at U19 ( vs Serbia and vs Lithuania - both loses and both games played quite poorly by Exum. ). And probably more highlight reels than anybody here trying to figure out what's the hype about. And I may sound like broken record but dude will struggle in NBA. And he is nowhere near being lightning quick. In NBA he would be considered average.

Who has better leadership potential?

We all know Smart is a leader. I thought Gordon had "it." Exum? I don't know.

We need an alpha dog on this team as much as anything else. No one other than maybe Trey ever attempts to raise their voice.

That's one argument for Aaron Gordon over Noah Vonleh. And as much as I love Vonleh, I think it is a very valid concern. Does the factor of having a player with "attitude" raise everyone else's intensity and game? Whereas, Vonleh, despite his immense potential, may come in with a higher ceiling, maybe even BE a better individual player, but he's as quiet as all the rest and we still see the same passive effort by all the Jazz players.

Write up on his test results at the combine, draft-express

"Not necessarily known as a high riser, his vertical measurements were fairly average. However, his speed for his size is special and that came through in his sprint time. He moves exceptionally well and is a dangerous penetrator, with his lane agility and sprint times backing that up at the NBA level. Even testing out of position with the SG’s, Exum’s speed at his size did nothing to hurt his stock and was considered by some as the top guard prospect at the combine."
