Official Player Workouts for the Utah Jazz

Or we could just use another player at PF who doesn't play defense (Kanter) and keep Exum.
Most overrated player in draft: Jabari Parker

I can't wait til Jabari is tearing it up. You are gonna have to answer to a lot of bad takes.

I already predicted he'll win ROY. Scoring is "sexy," defense isn't. So voters generally go for whoever scores the most points.
Look at last year's ROY: he's already on the trading block.

I've also said I think Jabari is STILL a top-3 pick. I just wouldn't give up the #5 PLUS another very good asset to move up and take him. Would I trade the #5, #23 and #35 for Jabari? In a heartbeat. Would I trade the #5 PLUS Burks and Kanter as some have suggested? No way!

Are hedging your bets?

How is he the most overrated player in the draft, but is going to win ROY?

No, see my post above yours, which I was editing. I've always said I think Parker will win ROY. It's not hedging. I agree he's the most "NBA-ready" in terms of offensive potential and points is what voters always look at. He'll win ROY over Embiid or Wiggins because he's going to a very bad team (likely Milwaukee or Philly) where he'll be counted on to score right away. Embiid and Wiggins are both considered to be bigger projects. But everyone is on his jock saying he's a franchise player and we should sell the farm to get him. I disagree. I think his defense is a HUGE liability. And he's a bit of a tweener: shorter than the ideal PF and too slow to play SF.

Well that's where I'm calling you out on. Parker will be a franchise player. He will be a good defender. He won't be too slow to play the 3.

I honestly don't know what you are looking at? The kid is special.

I don't think we'd need to trade Burks or Kanter if Exum fell to us for the #2 pick.

They want Exum. (not Vonleh or Gordon if the Magic had taken him at 4).

We then trade Exum, #23, #34, plus next years pick or GS 2017.
for
#2 pick (maybe a bad contract too..)

I'm sure DL could get back into the draft too if he liked another player.

Would you do that?

i would do that.

Or Jabari,

So would the Jazz have to call the Bucks up and say "Hey if Exum Falls will you consider trading who ever you pick at #2". Cause we won't know if Exum falls until after they draft. So we wouldn't have a choice on who it was. I guess we could try trading with the 76ers as well.

Yes, I'd do it. But I wouldn't trade the #34, that's too high. I'd trade the #35. :p

Jody Genessy: Jazz are still hopeful they'll get Noah Vonleh in for a workout. Utah exec Walt Perrin said he looked in shape when he saw him in New York

Great post.

@Tjonessltrib: Kyle Anderson worked out for the Jazz this morning: The prevailing opinion? The guy just knows how to play

@Tjonessltrib: The Jazz see Anderson has someone who can play the point on the offensive end. Defensively, he'd have to guard power forwards

@Tjonessltrib: But remember: Anderson averaged 8 rebounds a game this season at UCLA. The Jazz believe that rebounding will translate to the NBA

@Tjonessltrib: Also hearing Jason Washburn and Carlon Brown both played extremely well in the Jazz free agent mini-camp these past few days

@Tjonessltrib: The one dominant name I'm hearing from the jazz FA mini-camp? Darius Morris, the former Michigan point guard. Heard he was great

@Tjonessltrib: Walt Perrin said Anderson struggled with his shooting through parts of the workout. But he really set guys up and made plays

Lotsa info on here. Anderson is a really interesting player. I wonder how he would do defending PF and what everybody else's positions would be. He's a great mismatch. The only thing I don't like about him, is that he's slow! And major half court player. We want to be a much higher tempo team this year and him at the point doesn't exactly do that.

Thanks for the twitter quotes. I don't entirely agree with you on the tempo issue. UCLA was 11th (out of 351) NCAA teams in scoring last year. They pushed tempo with him at PG, despite his individual speed issues. If I'm recalling correctly, one of his better attributes is passing ahead on transition.

Now that you mention that, I do remember some nice outlit passes by him. Now just imagine Burks and Gordon being the recipients!

If we don't get Gordon, I would love to get Anderson. If we get Gordon though, there really is no need for Anderson to be drafted.

Depends too if we keep Hayward.

Ehh, not really. I just feel like Anderson and Gordon will both need ample time at PF (especially Anderson) early in their careers.

Feel pretty strongly that Gordon should play 2/3's of his minutes at PF (alongside two wings) his first year to get acclimated. With Anderson, there wouldn't be enough time for Favors/Anderson/Gordon to play PF.

If we don't get Gordon, we could play Anderson at backup PF and have him run some offense with the 2nd unit.

I tend to agree with those points after thinking about it a little more.

By the way, the draft is less then two weeks away. I wonder if we'll being in any other important players...
