What's new

Hayward - has his own blog and logo ....

Wow,own android and iphone app as well.

GTime looking to get paid in a few weeks.

Building up his personal brand.

Love the kid, but maybe he should be working on his shooting, getting his team together, and getting to know his new coach?

Put yourself in his shoes....

Next 2-4 weeks could be biggest payday of life.

Good move.

When fans feel they relate to a player, GMs like that.

I find myself relating to him less and less these days. I'd be more impressed if I saw him getting his team together, or heard about him reaching out to his new coach to talk shop.

I agree with this. A leader would do what you say.

However I do not think he will be here and must know something. I know Jazz control that answer, but someone will overpay.

The more I read this blog, especially the biography, I do not like it.

Too over the top.

His agent has to be behind this

I heard something interesting about Gordon on 1280. They were talking about certain players on the Jazz who love playing in Utah. They mentioned Trey, Favors, and Kanter. They said, "for what ever reason, Gordon has never loved playing in Utah". Wow, this organization has handed the keys to this kid and he doesn't like it here? I'm getting a strange vibe from Gordon about how much he wants to stay here. Holding out, marrying an 18 year old, not reaching out to the new coach, and seems his agent is trying to push him in strange directions. I wish I knew how badly he wanted to stay with the Jazz.

Yes, 'cause that's what I said. He wants the payday, showing leadership is part of that.

I was biggest Hayward homer, ever. Just saying, he is finally starting to rub me the wrong way now.

I think it also just speaks to guys understanding their roles. In the NBA, everybody is pretty good offensively, or they wouldn’t be there. At some point in time, all these guys were stars somewhere. So if you can get to a point where you can tell each guy to just do a certain thing, and that’s the only they’re focusing on, you get really good at it. You all play together as a team. That’s when everything kind of comes together and you can become scary, scary good.

He's speaking truth here. If he really believes this, he shouldn't be trying to bleed the organization for every penny of its hard earned cap space. Unless, he believes he is the exception. Obviously he does think he is more of a star than other prospects on our team, or he would have accepted less.

I could put up with him wanting more money, but not coupled with the attitude that everyone else should be role players. Maybe I am reading too much into this, but I can't shake the feeling that he's talking about some of his teammates w/ that quote, and not himself. RJ polluted him.

I think it's fine. Wonder if he writes it himself. If so, he did a better job of breaking stuff down than I figured he would. Guys have to build their brand. I'm not too worried about whether he's planning to stay in Utah or not. The Jazz control his rights and will likely match the offer that he gets, or work out an extension with him. It's just business. Roy Hibbert and Eric Gordon both got huge offers from clubs willing to invest in them. Indiana and New Orleans both waited the process out and matched the contracts. I'm expecting the same thing with Gordon Hayward. It's not personal. It's just business. Hayward bet on himself, and it cost him millions. I'm sure that he's frustrated with the Jazz and with his current situation. It doesn't really matter though. I don't see them letting him leave. He'll get a nice offer and they'll match it. The angst over his desire to test the market is just silly. I hope he doesn't pull the "Please don't match my contract crap that Eric Gordon pulled." That'll make some of the guys on here flip the hell out.

Yeah, cuz I'm sure Hayward is the one designing the website and updating it....
This. Damain Lillard made sure to participate in every event that he could during the All-Star festivities. Was it just because he loved the game so much? I'm sure he does, but he came right out and said that it was to help build his brand. These guys want exposure and endorsements. And guess what? It worked. I love his commercial with Barry Sanders and Karl Malone. I'm fine with it. These guys have business demands and needs that we'll never even comprehend.

Every company has at least one douchebag that massively overinflates his worth and value to the company, we've all seen it before...the NBA/Jazz is no exception.

Oh no, guys! Hayward analyzing the Heat Spurs game! He probably has a team he'd want to win the series! Someone get pointgod in here! This is treason!!

Maybe I'm a throwback, but **** these medicore-caliber professional athletes (sorry, Gordo, that's what you are) and all this personal branding bull**** these days. I know you have a finite shelflife to cash out as a pro athlete but it makes me nauseous.
