Here is the evidence:

#1-Kanter can shoot the ball from the outside

Alot of Jazz guys said Enes has a great 3 point shot (Locke, Perrin, Lindsey). We all know he has a smooth mid range jumper but there is not much evidence of this three point shot on film. The only video I could find was his pre-NBA draft workout vid:

#2-GM Dennis Lindsey says so:

“Frankly, that’s nonsense,” Lindsey said in regard to criticism about Favors and Kanter not being able to play together. “Enes can really shoot the ball. And Derrick can really anchor a defense from a rebounding, shot-blocking standpoint.

“In combination going forward, they’ll be fine,” the GM continued."

#3- Coaching

With Atlanta (Snyder was the assistant) Millsap went from taking 0.5 threes per game to 3 three pointers per game. Clearly Corbin was an extension of Sloan's philosophy that you must bang inside and the three point shot was very much undervalued.

This makes me think that this is why Dennis was not a fan of Corbin. He saw the perfect stretch 4 to use in an offense and Kanter was going to waste.

Kanter really will flourish under Snyder. If he can get in a little bit better shape and that shoulder will be fully healed he is going to have an awesome year.

I agree, Enes can be a stretch 4, in fact he must with line up they are going to put on the floor next year. They don't have enough players from the outside, MKG is nice, but he is not a shooter, Gerald Henderson is inconsistent, and big Al just camps down low. That leaves Kemba to carry a big load. Enes should step in and help right away.

I love that we think Enes is an amazing shooter... He's very average from 15-18 feet, but once he moves back I'm sure he's lights out. Corbin didn't want him shooting it because we would have scored too many points.

But I don't want Enes to shoot outside.

If anything, fsvors should be developing his outside shot. Kanter is the guy we need to post up down low. Favors has zero offensive moves on the block. Kanter does. Feed Zbo kanter the ball!!!

While I'll admit that I have no idea how good of a 3 ball shooter Kanter is or is not, I don't think Corbin's assessment of him would much effect my opinion of whether or not he could shoot.

Edit: what's our sample size on 15-18'? Asking because I do not know.

Corbin also didn't want Millsap to shoot threes.

Enes' really has a nice touch. He was shooting it before he came to NBA. He wasn't even allowed to shoot mid-rangers in his first year. He was restricted only to play from low-post which at the time was his least polished part of his offensive game.

I like the idea of kanter being stretch 4. He can definitely shoot 3. No more corbin to stop him from shooting 3. I expect huge improvement on him, since he will have bb activity this summer unlike last year. hopefully on defense

I still cannot believe that there are professional, top level competing head coaches in the NBA who limit their players from doing a certain thing, like shooting 3's. My basketball mind is limited. Enlighten me. What are they thinking? Is it something like "Hey you play Center/Power forward. You can't shoot 3's because then there would be no one else to rebound." or something?

He will contribute a few points from beyond for sure. But if his shooting style especially preparation stays as slow as it is, then he won't have many uncontested shots and it does look like he will have trouble making shots that are contested very little.

He makes several shots in a row ( i cant tell if its the nba 3 or not, but still)

but as long as he can hit it well enough so his man can't sag off him, isn't that a key part of being a stretch four? bringing a man out of the paint?

Ways you know something in this thread is way off and it's therefore worthless in its' current state.

1. Thread title. It should've read The Official Enes Kanter can be a stretch 4 but still be God awful on defense thread.
2. Youtube clips provided from years ago when Kanter played lights out vs. a chair.
3. The OP.
