Rumor: Jazz willing to trade Burks to move up into top-3

I don't like it. Alec Burks has some known elite skills, getting to the rack and drawing fouls, and we really only saw him play last season, where he put up 18 pts per 36 in a reserved and conservative role in a slow paced offense that is harder for his style of play.

Burks had some really impressive college #'s as well.

His per 40 in his sophomore season had him putting up 26.1 pts per game, and getting to the line over 10.1 x a contest!!!! I demand to see the kid in a faster tempo offense, higher up the totem pole, and as a starter before we trade him away.

Me too. Would Burks, the #5 pick, and possibly the #23 pick be enough to move into the top 3? We moved into the top 3 in 2005 with a similar package to get Deron Williams. You then obviously draft Jabari Parker. I could see the Jazz making a trade with Milwaukee to do this. We agree to a trade: the Bucks take Parker at #2 for us and we take Exum at #5 for them. We then trade Exum's rights, Alec Burks, and the #23 pick for the rights to Parker and filler to make the contracts match.

This seems like the most likely scenario if you guys are going to get Parker. As Philly seem dead set on taking Wiggins and I think the Cavs are pretty set on Embiid even with all the posterioring.

I could see the Bucks trying to pass on Mayo's contract as well especially if they think the Jazz are desperate. You guys have the cap space to do so.

Of course you hope have to hope that the Bucks are equally interested in any combo of Smart, Vonleh, Gordon, or Randle as Orlando is subject to take Exum themselves.

#5, Alec Burks, and GS '17 first round pick for #2?

Jazz

Burke
Hayward
Jabari
Kanter
Favors

Bucks

Exum
Burks/Knight
Antetokounmpo
Ilyasova
Sanders

Do the bucks only do it if Exum is there at #5 though?

Golden State pick becomes superstar right out of draft :|

If they trade Burks they better bring something better than Exum. Burks is already better than Exum will ever be.

Depends upon who Orlando takes at 4. I really think that they are going to take either Marcus Smart or Vonleh (if they go big and take a PG with their 2nd lottery pick). I think that Embiid is going #1 to Cleveland, and Wiggins is going #3 to Philly.

I watched Jabari and Vonleh both play a lot. Jabari is more polished, but man, Vonleh has flashes that make me think he will be better. He is long and has a good jumpshot. I definitely think he will be better all-around. Jabari may be better, but I wouldn't use a lot of assets to trade up to get him as I think Vonleh may be just as good or better. His jumpshot is great with either hand. Kid is going to be good.

Exum is my wildcard as I just don't know enough about him. Either way, if we are going to trade assets, lets take a good option at #5 and use our assets to acquire another promising player. I think this draft will produce a lot of good all-star caliber players, but outside of Embiid (assuming his back holds up) no top-tier superstars.

Thank you! He deserves more of a sample size then to just give him up for Parker who is not proven and horrible at defense.

If it is Burks, 23rd, and 35th. Then I am OK with that. If its Burks and the #5? Hell no

Trading Burks was always going to happen. KOC made that decision the moment he selected sg Burks to play behind sg Hayward.

Drafting Kanter to play behind Favors is the same deal. Kanter will be gone soon too.

There was a lot of things I liked about KOC, the 2011 draft was not one of them.

At least Burks #5, #23, and the future GS pick for Jabarri is better than the Burks for Luke Ridinour trade that was rumored two years ago at the trade deadline.

We have seen Burks, we can estimate his ceiling. Exum could be better or worse. We just haven't seen enough of him. That is what scouts are for. It will interesting to see you eat your words if you are wrong. Many scouts are high on the kid for a reason.

Burks+Gordon > Parker

Burks, #5, #23, and GS future pick is way, WAY too much for an unproven commodity. I really hope the Jazz FO isn't this stupid.

I would not trade CJ Miles for Kevin Durant. Miles has a lot of untapped potential and could be Ray Allen + Michael Finley. Durant is rail-thin and will have a hard time scoring at the next level.

It if nets us a top 3 pick then see ya Burks. Same for Kanter, Burke, Gobert, Neto, Tomic and Favors.

I would trade, Burks and 23rd, 35th and the future GS away to move up.

I would not trade away Burks and the 5th pick though. Nobody in this draft is worth that.

Miles has just as many championships as Durant. Just sayin'....

Honestly, Vonleh + Burks for Parker (or Wiggins) is the deal I see DL pushing for. Don't think the deal gets done, but it's likely the offer on the table.

I am so torn on what to do at #5. My gut tells me that outside of Embiid, Exum is the most well-rounded player in this draft and has a chance to be a monster. Mental makeup, athleticism, length, defensive ability, ball-handling, passing, rebounding. He needs to work on his shot yes, but I'm not too concerned because it's far from busted and we finally have a coach who I believe knows how to develop players.

Wiggins just seems so passive, Parker so out of shape and limited defensively (Coach K would take him out at the end of games), and Vonleh just completely overhyped over the last two weeks while I see his limited athleticism, conditioning and fire or lack thereof as big, big concerns. I think staying pat and crossing our fingers that Exum is there is the way to go. But to move up to #3 and start giving up solid players (solid, not good) feels like the bad move. To me.

100% agreed.

Who would you draft at #5 with Parker in our pocket?
LOL. No one is going to trade a potential all-star for a 6th man and three players for their D-League roster.

But I did get a rise out of the Parker in my pocket. Ben Wa would be a good complement IMO.

Burks and kanters value are highest right now, waiting until trade deadline only diminishes value. Next summer they would be like Hayward today...no value.
