Following potential 2014 draftees

I don't have anything against Vonleh, there's just something about his game that is very off putting to me.

When I watch him all that comes to mind is...average. I expect him to have a long average career a la Marvin Williams. When I am watching a player in college they need to stand out to me. They need to do something that wows me during the game and stand out on the court. Vonleh didn't do this for me.

In short, he's the safe pick. Likely a solid player but nothing great. No interest in that.

You could say the same about Gordon. Aaron will come in and "play hard" (where have we heard that phrase before), but his limited offensive skills won't take the team to the next level. Or Smart. Or Exum. All of these players - even Wiggins and Parker - have warts.

Could someone please re-cap this thread please?

PKM started the thread by analyzing players he has followed since they were still nursing on their mothers' bosoms, while PG_AB waits until they're about 6 years old and mainly concentrates his efforts on obscure Euro players. Only a few foolhardy souls have ever emerged to question the omniscience of these two gurus and the disciples of the two have quickly rallied to squelch the insurgents.

With the exception of the Harrison twins, nothing has really changed since the start of the college season. As Dennis Green once said, "they are who we thought they were." Outside of a trade, which Stern has been trying to orchestrate behind the scenes (and I can expand upon that later), the Jazz' options seem to come down to five:

Dante Exum: faster than Rickey Green, but shoots like Jamaal Tinsley.

Marcus Smart: tougher than Bobby Hansen, shoots like Milt Palacio

Aaron Gordon: defends like AK-47 (without the blocks), shoots like AK47, except from the FT line, where he has modeled his game after Shaquille O'Neal.

Noah Vonleh: perhaps the most intriguing. Fear is that he'll become another Marvin Williams. Lindsey reportedly has met with the renowned heart specialists at the UofU and the Hogle Zoo curator to see if they can transplant the heart of a lion into the tantalizing physical specimen that is NV.

Joel Embiid: A Broke-back Mountain of a man. Conspiracy theorists claim his new foot injury is just a scam to get him to fall to the Lakers. Perhaps the skills of Hakeem with the feet of Curtis Borchardt.

Zach LaVine. Elfrid Payton. Stauskas went from 2nd round grade to Lottery pick. Tyler Ennis. Shabazz Napier.

on the downside, Glenn Robinson III and to a lesser extent Gary Harris.

If the Magic get a healthy Embiid at 4(which I think is the furthest he can fall BTW), and Elfrid Payton at 12, like in Dx's latest mock, thats a hell of a draft.

Obviously a few moves up/down. You could also mention Embiid (pre-injury) jumping to top-3 and Randle sliding a bit. Besides, my post was intended more for humor (as was PKM's) than 100% accuracy.

I chuckled at Milt Palacio. I really only know a few of the top prospects in the HS class of 2017. IIRC they are like 15 years old, players of similar age are making $$ professionally around the world in various sports, Ricky Rubio won the EuroChallenge playing with DKV Joventut at that age. Theres an 11 year old girl playing the US Open right now.

Green room invites- Some interesting players near the end that must be getting lottery looks.

Finally, NBA green room invites have finally come in. Here is a partial list of confirmed invites to the NBA draft next Thursday: Wiggins, Parker, Embiid (who, per his agent, will decline), Exum, Vonleh, Gordon, Smart, McDermott, Stauskas, Ennis, Payton, Gary Harris, James Young, T.J. Warren, Jusuf Nurkic, Shabazz Napier and Rodney Hood.

Hope you appreciate the humor. I really respect the info you, PKM and a few others have brought to the draft thread. I'm not a college bball fanatic as I'm generally so involved with youth sports and other activities I don't have much time to watch. Jazz are my guilty obsession and I often have to DVR the games and watch after the wife and daughter have gone to sleep. I'll tune in to key matchups as I have time (like the Duke-UK game) and then set aside some time during March madness.
