Let's make a deal.
Come up with your best trade for the exception or part of the exception (6.5M or less).

I think the Jazz are going for internal improvement...
Lulz. Marcin Gortat??? He's in the neighborhood skillwise of Elson and Fes, and he's making 2x-3x more than both of them combined. And you give up Okur, who is an underwhelming defender but at least brings something different to the court (a trey) than a third KF / FE clone. Heck, they are all even overseas players (as is Pietrus)! Pietrus would actually be the more beneficial part of your hypothetical deal to possible shore up the wing.I would've promoted the idea of Gortat but that ship sailed. I think the Jazz could've possibly moved Memo for Gortat and Pietrus later on had Orlando not **** their pants.

You're going to homer for whatever you're going to homer for. Gortat is a legit C in this league, the likes of which less than half of teams have at their expense. He's not Hakeem, but he's probably an athletic Joel Przybilla and that's ****ing rad.
Someone + Exception = SJax
Damn! My bad then if that's the case. Thanks for pointing out, Greg.
Correct, GB. Players and/or exceptions cannot be combined when using a TE.

As far as the Harpring TE is concerned specifically, this whole discussion is about one single player already under contract that makes equal to or less than $6.5 million this season.
