Offer to Cavs for #1 is to draft Wiggins not Parker

Yes... You do this trade...

Draft Wiggins
Sign Anthony Morrow, Rashard Lewis and Francisco Garcia for Shooting vie Free Agency
Sign Epke Udoh and Okafor also vie freegancy to have some depth at the Center position.
Prepare Gobert to play 15-20 minutes per game
Draft Kyle Anderson

Trey Burke/Kyle Anderson/Raul Neto
Gordon Hayward/Alec Burks/ Anthony Morrow
Andre Wiggins/ Francisco Garcia
Enes Kanter/ Rashard Lewis/ Epke Udoh
Emeka Okafor/ Rudy Gobert

of course it's a gamble. but the jazz have a better idea of what favors is than Wiggins and it's pretty clear he's not gonna be leading the jazz to any NBA finals. and really how big of a gamble can a team that won 20 some games last year be? it can't get much worse. might as well get the guy you want if you think he's that good. I think he is, you think he isn't, not a big deal.

fwiw, I don't underestimate Favors at all, big fan of him

I'm laughing at some of the people who are saying the Jazz are giving up too much for Wiggins. Really Favors and #5. The past week people were ready to trade Kanter, Burks, #5, #23, #35 for parker. The parker homerism is way over the top. Favors has not shown he is an alpha dog either. THere was a rumor that he doesn't work on his game and that he needs to be in better shape. He doesn't feel the need for a go to move. He has been in the league for 4 years now and he put up 13pts. 9 rebounds. If this deal is on the table I don't even think about it. Kanter and Gobert can play center. Bring back Marvin to play the stretch 4 or move up to get a PF in this draft or bring in another vet PF.

I'm not sure Lindsey would tell them who he wanted to take with the pick at this stage.
Exactly. I have no doubt that Spence Checketts could have a source in the business. However I DO doubt that (1) any source is necessarily telling the truth (or even knows the truth) at this time of year, and (2) the Jazz would tell Cleveland who they were targeting with the pick.

Exactly.

Checkett said that another person from the a third team's front office, who is also bidding for the #1 pick, told him that the Jazz had offered Favors and 5 for 1.

This source certainly got the information from the Cavs front office.

Imagine the conversation:

Source: We'll offer you X and Y for the #1 pick
Cavs FO: That's not going to be competitive, Jazz have offered us Favors and #5

So the only lie that would be necessary would be from the Cavs FO to Checkett's source. Both Checkett and his source can be truthful and the information could be incorrect.

Remember, it's lying season.

Possible

It would benefit the Cavs to leak that the Jazz are targeting Wiggins so that the Sixers hear this rumor (directly or indirectly), so that the Sixers believe their only chance to get Wiggins is to deal with the Cavs (not the Bucks) and up their offer.

That is my "40% probable" prediction: The Sixers and Cavs swap picks, Sixers take Wiggins, Cavs take home a ton of assets and pick Embiid at 3.

Embiid could fall to #5, though, and I think they'd take Favors over anything else the Sixers could offer.

DL, just do whatever it takes to get #1 and grab Wiggins.

Favors + #5 + #23 + GSW 2017 pick

Just get it done.

This is what I'm talking about. Even if we have to take on the contact of Varejao or Jack. It will payoff by getting Wiggins.

If this is correct Anderson Varejao's contract is a TEAM OPTION this summer. So that seems like it doesn't really matter. If they wanted to unload him they could anyways.
Jack has 2 years left on his deal. 3rd year is a team option. But he is not going to get that.
If we need to take on Jack's contract that would be fine. I would hope to unload it though as I want Neto to back up Trey.
I think Jack would help us win too many games next year and we don't need that. We need development. Nothing else this coming year.

How the **** could winning games be mutually exclusive to development? Does anyone think the Spurs did a terrible job developing their roster of cast-offs and write-offs (Kawhi among them ["he can't shoot" {he couldn't})?

exactly

Sixers start bidding and we throw in #23 & GSW 2017

NO way his source wasn't from the Cavs

More the fact that if we have Jarrett Jack I see him taking time away from Neto (if he comes over) and Hayward/Burks at the 2 position. That is the development I care about.

If we win more games great. But winning shouldn't be the #1 priority this coming year. Just improving and finding out who is the core. As we wasted so many years previously just playing veterans over the the young guys while they sat doing nothing.

Wouldn't that be seen by winning? What would you want to see next year, record use.
