What's new

Summer plans?

Isn't it about 115 degrees in Palm Springs by now? I guess it would be cooler on the mount, but still.

Start point is at 8000+ so I doubt it's that hot up there...

Edited to add:

Just found this...

Since the temperature differential between the valley floor and the top of the Tram is usually about 30 degrees, our Tram Weather Station is a great way to help you decide whether or not you need that sweater.

Dick, nice pics. I especially liked the one of the cabin and the cabin door.

Thanks, dude! I don't know if you're referencing one picture or two. Either way, thanks! My favorite is the one of the door lock and the reflection of the tree in the door window. I think I'm going to print that one out and give it to my buddy.

Were there any squatters in that shelter?

Nah. That cabin was essentially an emergency shelter. There were 4 beds in the cabin in addition to a bunch of left behind items for people to use. There were also a few books to sign.

The peak was sooooo ****ing cold and windy. I was happy that I summited with the right clothing. Also, had peak beers at the top!

I was referencing two pics. I just looked at the one of the door again and saw the reflection of the tree. Awesome. I didn't catch that the first time.

What was the wind chill at the peak?

Bad ***. How long was the hike?.... hiw difficult? Is this a high use trail?

Did that pic work? It's of my one day old son.
Didnt work for me. Congrats. (On your son, not your horrible pic posting skills )

well congrats bigb! thanks for the effort - - hope it's going well, aside from difficulties posting photos. What is the boy/girl ratio now in your family now? (not including pets)

Girl turns 10 on Monday, boy turns 7 October 1, girl turns 4 July 29, boy turns 3 September 22, and now this boy.

And thanks everyone. I promise I will get a pic or two up.

We feel extremely blessed and lucky to have him. After he was born, they found this:

Yup, that's a fully tied knot in the umbilical cord. That could have ended very badly.

So adorable! But I've got to say he looks a bit like Nancy, the comic strip character, in this photo. Cute kids. Even the big bald one :-)

So glad things are OK.

Thanks for the pics.
