#1 Pick to Utah?

If I could have my dream sports experience, I would love to be in the corner of a draft room during draft week and hear the phone discussions and the internal discussions regarding trade options etc. What a blast that would be.

I'll say mine is sitting court-side for a game 7 Utah Jazz Championship victory, but have fun in your draft room... nerd.

Spence and Monson reporting that Cleveland has rejected every teams offers except for the Jazz and Philly.

Jazz offer is #5, Favors, #23

Cleveland asked for #5, Favors, a future unprotected 1st.

Jazz also willing to send Alec Burks instead of the draft pick, but the FO is not united on including Alec.

Cleveland will send #1 and Jarrett Jack.

Jazz front office is waffling between Wiggins and Parker.

Not clear what Philly is offering, but MCW is on the table as is the #3 and #10 picks.

Philly has offered MCW and Thadeus Young to LAL for Steve Nash's corpse and the #7 pick.

we're gonna give up all that without knowing who we want ?

I hate to go off subject from the post, to go back on subject from what was posted, :) but I think the Jazz must trade up in this draft. With the talent that is sitting there, waiting for the taking, you could completely miss it by having the 5th pick overall. Lets trade up to a top 3 and possibly change the next 5-10 years of the franchise. The 5 spot in this draft is such an unpredictable spot that you really should be focusing on trading up if you want it to make sense at all. New Coach, (that hopefully will work out for many years to come) new team, lets surround him with some great talented players to build from. Changes need to be made. We need to stop focusing on who will be left at the #5 spot and go for a top 3.

I regularly read the message boards of many NBA teams fans but I don't think any other fanbase thinks so lowly of their own players.
Alec Burks was the most impressive Jazz player last year and will only improve with the departure of Tyrone Corbin. There are things he does better than virtually all NBA players. Yes! If he practices 300-500 long range shots+FTs every day this summer, he will be a star in this league.
Favors is a young big up and coming, may well become a top-3 PF/C in the coming years if people around can help him keep focused and determined. Don't be so impatient and remember bigs development does take some time.

Corbin had his good sides and bad sides but he certainly was terribad at developing young players. The coaching staff was even worse. You can understand why Cavs and possibly other teams are so interested in acquiring young Jazz players. These guys are on the verge of a breakout next season.

I am totally against Favors + Burks + 5 for #1 + Jack. I am not even OK with sending 5 + Favors!
#5 is quite good in such a crazy draft. Who can guarantee Wiggins or Parker will end up being the best player of this draft class? No need to sell the farm.

I think the exact opposite. The vast majority of fans on here overrate our players when comparing them to other teams players when you look at the trade ideas and reactions to them on this site. The funny thing is most fans on here think very poorly of most of our players when we talk about them individually. Basically, Favors sucks so bad, but no I won't trade him for Lebron, well I will trade him as long as we get a first round pick back.

OK, for everyone that blasted me in the other thread...

If this is the proposal, it is EXACTLY what I was saying. You can have Burks or another draft pick, but not both!
The deal sweetener is the #23. I'm ok with that. This draft has a comparable player to Alec Burks in the 20's. And hold firm on the pick protection. Jazz will be in the lottery next season, likely top-10. Can't build a playoff team overnight in the WC with a young Wiggins.

Philly doesn't have a center to offer Cleveland and that is what they need most. Sit tight, Dennis, you're dealing from a hand of strength on this one.

Millers are letting religion get in the way of their thinking. No Gail, God is not going to award Utah a championship because they have a Mormon on the team. But those merchandise sales!!!
Damn the merchandise sales. I never buy player jerseys but I'll buy a new hat and a couple of over-priced t-shirts if you let DL draft Wiggins.

If the deal is Favors, Burks and #23

OR

Favors, #5 and #23

I like it even more!!!

We end up with Wiggins and Burks or Wiggins and Gordon/Vonleh/Embiid.

Man I hope DL can get this deal done!

As much as I want a deal to be done to move up and get Wiggins and to a lesser extent Parker, I just don't see Cleveland being willing to do so with what we have to offer. As much as I like Favors and Burks, are they even coupled with the 5th pick enough to sway the Cavs when the consensus is that Wiggins and Parker are the closest to sure things in the draft?

I read it as Favors, the #5 AND either the #23 or Burks.
Cleveland wants Favors, the #5 and an unprotected first, which would likely be in the top-10 next season. And with their luck/connections/soul burning in hell, that pick becomes top-3 next year.

Deosn't mean we'll draft him.

*I'd still like to see Burks with a note on his chest. A combo of him and Wiggins would be slashing heaven. Getting Gordon back to set-shooting 3s would be awesome.

Burks/Wiggins/Hayward >>> dope

I'm just saying that if the last part of the deal comes down to the #23 OR Alec, I'm ok with that. I LOVE Alec. But Jazz can get a pretty good SG or SF later in the draft to put in the rotation with Wiggins and Hayward.

You saying there is a specific player that is similar to Alec's game or just someone who has a similar value?

I don't understand Cav's interest in Burks. They have Waiters. And CJ. I understand their wanting a big. I think Favors + 5 is fair. If they'll take Kanter instead of Favors I'd include the 23rd or some future pick.

I know they wanna rape us but I don't wanna be raped. If that isn't enough then I'm happy with gambling on Aaron Gordon. I think he has as a good chance to be as good as the guys at the top of the draft.
