#1 Pick to Utah?

You saying there is a specific player that is similar to Alec's game or just someone who has a similar value?

Sorry for the confusion. I meant similar value. There are some very good wing prospects in the 20's or Utah could even combine the #23 and #35 to move up into the late teens. Marvin Williams could be signed as the 3rd wing to back up Wiggins and Hayward. Burks is fun to watch, but he's not irreplaceable. Certainly we won't get someone with his acrobatic driving ability (HOUDINI!), but maybe the draft pick will be a better defender and/or a better outside shooter.

I know it's probably all a smokescreen to try and pry more from the Jazz or other teams, but here is the latest on Cleveland and the #1 pick:

"Of the offers they've received, a source says the Cavs aren't enamored by either the Sixers' offer (Thaddeus Young and the No. 3 pick) nor the Jazz's offer (Derrick Favors and the No. 5 pick). However, the Cavs do have some interest in the Magic's offer of Arron Afflalo, the No. 4 pick and the No. 12 pick."

I don't know if I will be disappointed or breathe a sigh of relief if this deal doesn't happen.

If the deal is Favors, Burks and #23

OR

Favors, #5 and #23

I like it even more!!!

We end up with Wiggins and Burks or Wiggins and Gordon/Vonleh/Embiid.

Man I hope DL can get this deal done!
i agree.

and not sure which pairings i would rather have tbh

I'm of the opinion that Burks is special. I don't think I'm overvaluing. Guy's a stud.

I'm more in this camp, but I understand the other side as well. I think if Burks stays with us this season and starts he scores 20 a game with good efficiency. He's a much better passer than people give him credit for. I'd like to play Wiggins alongside Burks as I think they'd be tough to guard.

I keep Burks out of this deal... move Kanter GSW pick or something else. Burks has potential, not as much, to be as good as Wiggins or Jabari.

That Orlando offer is lights out. Take it, Cavs!

I'd like to replace Burks with Gary Harris if he's traded. Kind of like a Bradley Beal type of player.

I don't even know what's going to happen though and nothing I can do about it. So this is going to be exciting!

I don't understand Cav's interest in Burks. They have Waiters. And CJ. I understand their wanting a big. I think Favors + 5 is fair. If they'll take Kanter instead of Favors I'd include the 23rd or some future pick.

I know they wanna rape us but I don't wanna be raped. If that isn't enough then I'm happy with gambling on Aaron Gordon. I think he has as a good chance to be as good as the guys at the top of the draft.
I don't think they want Burks. What they REALLY want is next season's unprotected pick. They know we'll be in the lottery again. Jazz will improve, but not double their win total. Best case is maybe a Phoenix-type season: competitive, but just not quite at a playoff level. And with Cleveland's luck (I know the lottery can't be fixed, but how else to explain?), the #12 pick becomes top-3. In negotiations you have to be willing to walk away. This deal is more essential for Cleveland than Utah. They HAVE to get a big AND clear cap space to have a shot at LBJ. Wiggins doesn't fit with LBJ and Parker just replaces Thompson. They're still left with an aging Varejao and an UFA in Hawes who doesn't defend. I still maintain the compromise is top-3 protection for 2015 and unprotected in 2016. If Utah is really bad, or really lucky, they get to keep their pick next season and then it's likely in the teens the following year. But that's a SMALL chance. More likely is Cleveland ends up with a pick in the 8-10 range.

If they want to take a risk on Embiid, this is the offer for them. Afflalo replaces Waiters?, they can take Embiid and get a shooter like McDermott at #12. If they don't win the LBJ sweepstakes, it's not a bad deal. But they still don't have a big outside of the often-hurt Varejao.

For Orlando, do they take Wiggins or go with Parker? They desperately need a PF. But you never know; they play small.

*I'd still like to see Burks with a note on his chest. A combo of him and Wiggins would be slashing heaven. Getting Gordon back to set-shooting 3s would be awesome.

Burks/Wiggins/Hayward >>> dope
word up

Agreed. Favors is a starter and Burks should be a starter. Also, the 5th pick should be a starter. Giving up three starters for Wiggins is a lot to give up. I'm all for trading Favors, the 5th and 23rd for Wiggins but losing Burks is too much. I would rather keep Favors and Burks and be the one screwing another team for our 5th pick.
