Dante Exum's workouts.........

I am thrilled we got Exum and I know there is plenty of fan buzz about his potential stardom in the league. But I do find one thing that is sort of alarming....

I believe he worked out with all 4 teams (Cavs, Bucks, Sixers, Magic) Yet none of those teams drafted him.....

So can anyone make me feel better about this? Any link or news stories about how he did in the workouts? I trust the scouts but at the same time when you watch his highlight videos its just the same 15 plays with different edits and music.

The fact that the Sixers chose to go with a player with a bad foot and back and that Aaron Gordon was able to leap frog Exum is concerning. Especially since Orlando was in desperate need of a PG.

I think Orlando liked Payton/Gordon more than Exum or smart and anyone they could have gotten at #12. I think it was more due to liking their chances at PG later in the round than it was not liking Exum. I heard Payton kept up with Smart in any of the workouts they did together, and Gordon is on a level all his own. There wasn't a PF worth considering at #12 anywhere close to the level of Gordon. If they had their trade in place before the draft, they would have been pretty confident Payton would be there at 10, making it worth taking their PF first.

And as far as Philly goes, they get what could be the best player in the draft, AND they don't even have to play him this next year. Win/win.

I wonder what special analytics the scouts used to make fine-grained distinctions between those 15 plays set to different music, since that's all they had to work with. Tough job.

Please advise.

I watched same plays over and over on different videos. It reminds me of watching kanter's videos 3 years ago. lol

You suck at reading. I said I trust the scouts but us fans have nothing to go on expcept those videos.

Just wait for summer league! It should be really fun to get to watch Burke, Gobert, Hood, and of course Exum on the same team.

Exum runs fast. He tested "off the charts" at the combine psych evaluations. What's there to worry about?

Yea the psych stuff was mentioned by Ford. Its not a huge worry but I think its a valid concern that out of all the teams that he worked out for he was not able to convince them to draft him.

Not really.
Parker, Wiggins and Embiid were ALWAYS the top 3 prospects. Pre-injury, Embiid would have gone #1. Being out a year dropped him to the ultimate risk-taking team, Philadelphia. So the only surprise was why Orlando took Gordon instead. As sgjazzzfan noted, they knew they could get Payton later and Gordon/Payton in their view was better than Exum/McDermott, Saric, Warren or Payne. Gordon is a nice player. He can play swing forward for them. And Orlando already has a combo guard in Oladipo. Maybe they wanted a pure point.

Yeah, I just wish we had a guarantee that our #5 pick was the best player in this draft. If he's not, then I say we should have taken one of the other guaranteed players who got drafted behind him. Draft picks are nothing to gamble with, after all.

Whats the worry about?

The guys in the videos said they hadnt seen a guy like this since michael jordan or kobe bryant.

sit back, and watch the title run
