Why aren't more people pissed at Hayward for signing a MAX deal instead of negotiating with Utah? Sorry but Hayward doesn't want to be in Utah. He wants to be closer to Indy. Yet he gets very little criticism? What he gets is the majority of people pining for him to stay.
What do you mean? He negotiated with Utah last summer. They tried to sign him on the cheap. They contacted him on July 1st and talked money. This is the way business is done. KOC used to tell players to go out and establish their market value. Hayward likely asked for the MAX from Utah. Wouldn't you, knowing seven or more teams were interested in your services? Good heavens, I'd do the same. I've now established my market value; it's 4/$64M (or something like that). Utah can either match or not.

So...Hayward at $13mm per year is equivalent to Lance at $6mm per year? I just don't see much difference in player quality and upside between the two.

How do we get Lance at $6M per. Didn't he just turn down a $9m/per contract?

I would love Lance Stephenson, personally (assuming we want to win now).

Not sure where he fits in the backcourt rotation/who's the odd man out in 2014, but we could use a little nasty/crazy. He's a bulldog.

Just a question....

Has Wiggins or Exum signed their rookie deals yet?

If not their rights could be included in a sign and trade right?

Was offered 5 years and 44 M, but feels he is worth much more... I'd rather pay Hayward the max over 4 years.

Remember these guys aren't just stat producing robots... This isn't your fantasy league. Locker room stuff matters. Chemistry matters. Waiters and Irving were at each others throats all year and that team under-performed. Deng didn't even want to consider resigning there. Lance is a huge problem... its too bad.

Lance is push his girlfriend down the stairs crazy... not KG, Noah crazy competitive.

For the record, I agree with GVC. I'd take the risk on Lance at ~11mil well before I'd give Gordon the max.

But by all means, lets play it ultra safe.

I don't want Gayward at the max, but I sure as hell want no part of Stevenson added to this young developing team.

Jazz will either match the offer or do a sign and trade. Gordon has to be signing this praying we match... Locke mentioned that he really doesn't like Cleveland.

If they sign and trade him Jazz would do well to sit on their cap space another year. This market seems overpriced. Find a couple salary dumps... may not get as much as we did last year but collect a few assets to get to the floor and call it a day.

Jazz won't get much in return in a sign and trade from a team that can sign Gordo outright.

Probably right... But you tell them the price is steep but that you'll just match it unless they send something decent back. We'll also tie up their flexibility for 10 days (since FA can't sign until the 10th and we'd have 3 days to match) They may call our bluff, but we still hold the cards here. We ain't getting Wiggins, but we could get a first rounder or two (they own Miami's which would be late). The Cavs have held out hope for Lebron... they may feel like they have to get something and Hayward is the last piece that makes sense for them. Between their desperation to get something and the threat of tying up their cap space we could certainly get a first rounder.

Just checked some Cavs message boards. They aren't too excited.
