Free Agent Rumors Thread

So does anyone think we still need FA's, or should we just give minutes to who we already have?

We still need another big man. A big body who can rebound and defend and step-up if Favors/Kanter go down. I cringe at the thought of Novak getting big minutes as a result of an injury.

Has played under Snyder too. Looks like he can pass. Good rebounder, can finish around the rim. Perfect low-cost backup big IMO.

We have the same nickname too, so he would probably become my favorite Jazz player immediately.

The pass at :19 will make you cream yourself.

For the record, I'm good. Only ? might be Tomic. But with the play of Rudy, I'm not so sure the Jazz bring him over. Guess minutes could be somewhat managed if one of the bigs got traded at the deadline.

Need more vet presence IMO. Just make sure they're not good enough to take too much time from the young guys.

Wow. Sick. But I in fact did not cream. I'm all for signing Ayon. I'm sort of surprised tbh that a team like Cleveland or Miami, hell any team who thinks they could make a playoff run for that matter, hasn't signed the guy yet, maybe even slightly overpaid for him on a two year deal. Bigs are always huge in the playoffs and Miami just learned that the hard way.

Im fine with what we have but wouldn't be surprised to see one more Vet signed a 3 or 4

Totally out of the question IMO.

DL is trying to build this team like the Spurs. Meaning everyone can shoot, except may be the Center. Your guy is just not part of the blueprint IMO.

Sorry.

and Malcolm Thomas is? Al Farouq Aminu is much better, has been playing against NBA guys for the past 4 seasons(Check out the blocks on Tony Parker and Klay Thompson in the first min of that Vid), hes much bigger, much more athletic, 3 years younger, and should only cost around 3mil.. why pay Malcolm Thomas a third of that

He can stroke it.

He can make a 3(In the D-League) but hes 60% from the FT line, hes not as big or athletic as Aminu, whos led all SF's in the NBA in Defensive rebounding the last 2 seasons.

While Malcolm Thomas was a 25 year old in the D-League, Aminu was defending Lebron James for the Pelicans. It's Apples and Oranges, until you start talking about pay scale.

I'm just saying you need to be able to knock down those 3's when called upon in this new system that I think DL and Quinn are trying to implement. Defensively I think they'll just trust the system.

The signing of Novak who can't guard for **** seems to support that theory.

If thats the case than dont sign him. There will be obvious moments during the season where a big bodied SF like that could be used though, I guarantee it. If they're getting killed on the boards, if a teams making a big comeback or Durant is white-hot and they want to give another look defensively, thats the value with Al-Farouq.

The roster has played out where theres still a spot for him, so im still hopeful, I was suprised to see Locke tweeting about him.

Hes 23, I still believe he can improve(He cut down his turnovers a nice chunk this season), and I think he'd thrive in a faster paced, ball-movement type offense. The Pelicans we're playing him during crunch time, yet people around here pretend hes an end of the bench player.

We've got Gobert.

That still puts Novak or Evans into a spot of playing huge minutes.

Gobert is great, I love him, but I'm not sure he can play 30 mpg.

Ayon just gives you some insurance as to still being able to compete if one of our 3 bigs goes down.

You'd prefer Ayon over Tomic?

If were talking about Bigs that dont jump much, i prefer Kevin Seraphin over Ayon tbh.

I definitely like these players over Ayon too;

Ekpe Udoh
Jeremy Tyler
Cole Aldridge
Andray Blatche
Ante Tomic

I'd prefer Gobert playing 30 min. rather than him going 15 and Ayon getting 15, yeah no question.

If not Ayon, I'd say that big white boy who went to Pitt and has been in the league seven years, Aaron Gray. He's serviceable and started games before. Ayon would be my first choice though and quite frankly, could be a solid asset at the deadline as teams look to upgrade their front courts for the postseason.

Aaron Gray signed to the Pistons.

Ayon is old and will want minutes to preserve his career. Do not want.

Ronald Roberts Jr. from St. Joe's is a 6'8 PF with a 7'1 wingspan and over 40" vertical, he jumps quick too. He can rebound, dribble on the perimeter some and hit a midrange jumper, he turns 23 soon so he was overlooked. Roberts played for Orlando's SL and now is on the Heat's SL team.
