Would Utah have taken Smart?

Who would the Jazz have drafted at #6 (had they lost the coin flip to Boston)?

Let's revisit the seminal moment that may have changed the course of Jazz history: the coin flip with Boston which determined the #4/#5 picks (and later dropped to 5/6 with Cleveland moving up). Little did we know at that time, Exum would be the prize.

So let's play the game with the opposite outcome. Boston wins the coin toss and the draft goes as it did through the first four picks. Maybe Boston still takes Smart, but let's assume they go with Exum at #5. (*Not part of the game, but I think Exum would be a huge asset they could include in a trade for Love).

So Utah is now sitting at #6 with Gordon and Exum off the board. Knowing what we do about Quin's offense, about Utah supposedly having no interest in working out Smart, do the Jazz still take him at #6 as BPA or do they draft someone else?

I think the player they would have targeted is Noah Vonleh. They brought in a perimeter shooter in Novak to play behind Kanter. I think that would have been Noah's job. I picked Vonleh, but I think DL would have tried to trade back a spot with the Lakers. They didn't even try to set a smokescreen: everyone KNEW they wanted Randle. So I could see the Jazz drafting Julius and trading his rights to LA for Vonleh.

Also believe McBuckets would have been a serious consideration for the Jazz.

In sum, we may look back at that coin flip (and Hennigan's folly) as pivotal moments in the history of the Jazz.

IF that had happened THEN Quin Snyder would have taken a dropped a HOT & SOFT on your Mom's Chest...

Bummer it didn't happen because I would have paid to see that hypothetical come true.

An interesting question to ponder but I don't see the point of it right now. Between the SL, our young guys, the Booker signing, and Archie's employment, we have a lot on our table right now.

Have no idea what you just said, Wonderbra. But the coin flip happened way BEFORE Quin was hired as coach.

As for QSH..what is the point of half the threads in here? I apologize for diverting anyone's attention away from the MOMENTOUS Booker signing and speculation Enes' trade is imminent. I just hope DL gets at least TWO 2nd's for Kanter.

I voted Vonleh based solely on the tone of the rumors before the draft.

I voted Smart. I think DL and Quin would have liked his attitude and toughness. I think Vonleh will suck, personally.

It would have to be either Vonleh or Smart. I suspect Lindsey would have preffered Vonleh, but Quinn would have wanted Smart and his tenacity. I suspect Quinn would be allowed to get his man to help him make his mark on this team.

Who gives a ****? You are terrible.

You're a dick

I think it's a pretty interesting thought. I would have gone smart over vonleah but don't really love either of those options. I think randle is going to be a player and that would have been my pick there even though we don't need him.

Voted Randle because that's who they would have taken. They really liked Randle and with Gordon off the Board as well as Exum, that's who they would have gone with.

Sorry! I just get annoyed with how quickly people get ambushed on this board when posting something another deems trivial or useless.
